Lisse
After a short ride from Amsterdam to the bulbflower area around Lisse, we start your tour by making a scenic ride in this area. Depending upon the season you see a landscape with colourful bulbflower carpets in almost any colour you can imagine. We try to find a spot where we can stop to make some pictures.
Keukenhof
Then we continue to the true highlight of this tour, the park Keukenhof. Once a mere kitchen garden filled with vegetables and herbs, the Keukenhof - smack dab in the middle of South Holland’s tulip region - now has the distinction of being the world’s largest flower garden, hosting some 800,000 visitors per year. This guided tour will take you through the 15 kilometers of footpaths and 32 hectares of gardens, where millions of bulbs are planted each year. Tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, and other spring bulbs of a variety of vibrant colours carpet the grounds. Stroll through the English landscape garden, the Japanese country garden, and the historical garden. Take in the flower sculpture, based on an annual theme.

The most memorable part of my trip and it was sunny! Got to see the tulips, farms, windmills, try their local foods. Highly recommend. It’s an all day tour. Went back in April for the tulip festival.

Our guide was lovely and explained the working of the mill and the history of the area. It was a great tour and we enjoyed it very much!

Very well rounded and visited many important stops. Our guide was wonderful. We had many Scandinavia tours and she was the best.

This was an overall delightful experience. Even with advance tickets, checking in and getting on the tour bus took longer than expected. Once on our way everything went well. The gardens were breathtaking and stops along the way for cheese and clogs were so fascinating. This was a great "taste of Holland".

This was a convenient, “tick-the-box” kind of tour that covered two popular Dutch experiences: the Keukenhof Gardens and Zaanse Schans Windmills. With 57 of us on board, we started early at 8:30am, heading to the Keukenhof Gardens near the end of tulip season. The gardens were beautiful, though many areas had already been pruned as the flowers were wilting. It was very crowded, likely due to the season ending just two days later. I was grateful for the chance to see the gardens, but 4 hours felt a bit too long given the limited blooms. I lost contact with the guide almost immediately after entering the gardens due to the sheer number of visitors onsite that day and was relieved that we had agreed on a clear meeting point and time in advance. The second part of the tour took us to Zaanse Schans to see traditional windmills, cheese-making, and clog workshops. While iconic and visually charming, this portion felt quite commercial. I’m glad I stayed close to the guide on this part of the tour and got to learn about the area’s history, but overall, the experience could be improved with better time management and a more personal, authentic touch.

Judy and I were overwhelmed by the beauty of the Keukenhof gardens. How fortunate we were to have visited in early May. I would include this as a must in any spring visit to Amsterdam. Additionally, the continued visit to the windmills at Zaanse was fascinating. Visit, if you have the opportunity.

Went here with my husband, I saw other reviews mention that it would be rather busy…that’s an understatement, it was EXTREMELY busy. I say this all first as I am normally ok with large crowds but if you are someone that gets overwhelmed by lots of people then I recommend either going when its not as busy or do something else. The tulips were beautiful but to be honest the experience was not great, the tour guide was struggling to give facts about Netherlands and tulips, being told that pick pocketers are around was unsettling given how busy the place was and yet meant to be this relaxing pretty place… I wouldn’t do this again, glad i did it once but never again.

Had a good experience with the tour host and company. I wish we had more organized and time at tulip fields. Couldn’t even roam the entire place and get lunch. Zaanse Schan was good too but again literally no time. No time to shop around or grab lunch. There was a very quick pit stop to a clog factory & cheese farm (they are right next door) It was a good addition. Even though it was a long day . I still think we needed more time or some time for lunch. Basically had a snack bar for the entire day.

Great tour guide - she was very knowledgeable. Our tour started a little late because of an accident but NOT a problem. You can't control the traffic.
