Salt mine tour is a long day but worth it. Our guide was very knowledge & friendly. Salt mine was fascinating but I do think more could be done to make the experience even more interesting. More exhibits e.g. one area for each period of time with tools, clothes, more pictures & information. We were astounded by the height of the ceiling. I definitely felt the health benefits of breathing the salt air.

The pick-up was punctual and easy to find, which made the start of the trip stress-free. Our guide, Rodica, was excellent—very knowledgeable and provided engaging commentary throughout the journey, which made the long drive more enjoyable. That said, the travel time was significantly longer than advertised. It took nearly 3 hours to reach the salt mine and 2.5 hours to return, rather than the 1.5 hours stated. The mine itself is impressive in scale, and upon arrival you board a minibus that takes you down inside. Around 2 hours was plenty to explore and take in the sights. Overall, I would recommend this tour for those interested in seeing the salt mine, but be mindful of the extended travel time. We chose this over the Dracula Castle tour because of the supposed shorter journey, but in reality, the difference is minimal.

Beware it is a scam, the agency asks to pay 30€ per person for the visit (instead of 11 euros at the ticket office) otherwise they refuse to take you in the minibus. They inform you of this the day before once the right of withdrawal has passed.

The coach was a lovely, very comfortable journey. We had a lovely tour guide who told us lots about the mine and answered all questions. The mine itself was very cool to walk around (went for 2hours) there’s information to read and you can also play games like ping pong, air hockey and mini golf, all are quite cheap to play. There is food inside but we took our own, there is lots of places to sit down and eat, when we went it wasn’t that busy. I think is good for anyone to do. You’re allowed to take a backpack.

Lucian was amazing going above and beyond, so helpful and friendly, he made the trip. My only issue with the salt mine was the amount of children there as it was more like an amusement park

We had the most beautiful, knowledgeable and amusing guide you could ever imagine - Rodica! The mine was an interesting experience but I was truly more impressed with all the information about Romania then with destination itself ;) Definitely recommend this adventure if you have never been to a salt mine.
