What To Expect
Baia de Camara de Lobos
The first stop is a small fishing village, “Câmara de Lobos”, which is located west of Funchal where the port is a small creek. A beach and harbor can be seen, with the houses heaped up around the bay. In 1949 Winston Churchill chose this place to paint its picturesque surroundings.
Cabo Girao
After visiting Camara de Lobos, you will head for worlds second highest sea cliff and Europe’s highest (580m) – (1775 ft). Here you can enjoy the beautiful views of Camara de Lobos and Funchal. Cabo Girão Skywalk THIS ATTRACTION IS OPTIONAL

5.00Just back from a brilliant value for money full day West island tour with Rui, our driver/tour guide who was brimming with great information about the places we drove through and for each of our stops. He was a very safe driver, friendly, thoughtful (if you need the toilet go here ‘cos the one at our next stop in the mountains is not good!) and punctual. After booking online the conformation and Information prior to the trip was good - registration number of minibus, pick up point and time. A great tour, which I can thoroughly recommend, and we will book again with Madeira Island Tours without ant hesitation

3.00The guide did his job, nothing more. Nice. Do not understand some stops on the tour, such as the “waterfalls” myself, I call it “small mountain stream” nothing you stop the car for! You sit many hours in the minivan in a group of 15 people so if I were a guide I would create commitment. Perhaps a show of hands would suffice, from which countries we come. Now he stopped the bus after info about the place, let us out 15-20 minutes, everyone took their mobile photos and then go on etc. The guide suggested YouTube at some point, yes it is a great place to do tours! Best? Damn!! Worth the money? Maybe.

5.00Joao is a wonderful very knowledgeable and smooth driver. The tour was fantastic. The time schedule was perfect. I enjoyed all the stops. Special mention for Ponta do Sol, Fanal forest, Porto Moniz and the poncha at Sao Vicente. I highly recommend this tour.

3.00Positives: Excellent pre trip communication. Very punctual pick up at hotel. New Mercedes transporter bus. Safe and polite driver. The scenery. Good price. Negative: While the driver spoke English, his Portuguese accent was so strong that, even in spite of the fact that he wore a microphone headset, the six of us in the back of the van got perhaps 10% of his commentary, which was a real shame.
