The Atacama is known for its dark skies and astronomical observatories. So getting out to see the southern night sky is a mist-do. I’m glad I picked this tour. Good transportation and communications, and Rodrigo is an excellent guide. He’s super knowledgeable, having written books on the subject. He started with stargazing with the “naked eye” and telling us lots of interesting stories, before taking us to see several celestial objects up close through professional telescopes. Rodrigo speaks slowly and clearly, and took time to answer questions. Note that it gets COLD out at night (even in mid-December) so bring layers. They provide blankets as well. At the end he shares wine, coffee, hot chocolate and a variety of sweet and savory snacks which are enjoyed around a campfire. We were picked up after midnight and arrived back at the hotels in town about 30 min later.

Make sure you understand which months provide cool constellations you look for otherwise you might be disappointed. Next time I would choose something more professional.

We had a very nice star gazing trip with Alejandro and Connie. Alejandro was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information regarding star distances, nebula, Orion to name a few. The telescope viewing was nice and we got to see the moons of Jupiter. The trip was well organized. I would definitely recommend the trip.

The moon was full the night before, so when it rose above the horizon, it was immense and bright, blinding the constellations. English was spoken so that I could understand, but the English-to-Spanish ratio was about 30% to 70%, so I probably missed some interesting insights.

Right away, the stars in the Atacama are beautiful! And the tour made viewing them wonderful. Easy, clear instructions for pick up, good explanations of the stars, and nice treats for after. A great experience!

Amazing excursion. Alejandro, who led the stargazing, was so knowledgeable and always happy to answer questions. Got to use the telescopes to look at Saturn, Sirius, the moon, among others.

This was an amazing experience. We have never seen a night sky like it. So many stars and it was all so clearly see. Our guide were full of information and told us so much about the different star formation, galaxy's and so on. They have had telescopes for us to look through which was so cool. We say Saturn rings through the telescope so clearly. The wine, hot drinks and snacks were a lovely touch.
