Absolutely awful. Definitely not worth the money. I went to this show instead of making my daughter get up early and going to a sumo stable. My daughter is 12. That was a mistake. The show is like a pantomime. Not what I expected. Complete waste of time. Don’t waste your money and they might up their game. Soooo bad.

We were hoping to see real Sumo wrestling but this is more of a WWE Raw situation where you can tell they have already decided who the winner will be beforehand. You also spend the first half with a dimly lit stage listening to a prerecorded video while the wrestlers just move around the stage. It wasn’t a bad time just not real Sumo. The audience members “fighting” was funny though.

It’s light entertainment blending tradition, humour, and audience interaction in a way that’s both accessible and genuinely fun. The evening kicks off with a lively summary of sumo’s history and rituals, giving just enough cultural context to appreciate the performance without feeling like a lecture. The wrestlers are charismatic and clearly enjoy engaging with the crowd, making it more theatrical. The bento box included with the ticket was delicious, with the option to order more if you’re hungry, which I did and was delicious. The venue itself is great and well-suited to the show, though it can be a little tricky to find, especially if you’re navigating Namba’s maze for the first time. Give yourself extra time to locate it, especially if you’re relying on Google Maps. Overall, it’s a super enjoyable evening—perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers looking for something uniquely Japanese but not overly formal. Don’t expect a serious sporting match; do expect laughs, claps, and a memorable slice of sumo culture.

Typical tourist show, low on quality high on cheese. I wanted to see a Sumo show not a variety one. Very disappointing
