See a whole new side of Moraine Lake—peaceful, uncrowded, and lit by the beauty of sunset and the stars. This evening adventure takes you beyond the typical daytime experience, combining stunning landscapes, wildlife viewing, and one of the best stargazing spots in Banff National Park.
Your journey begins along the Bow Valley Parkway, with chances of spotting wildlife, and a stop at Morant’s Curve. Take a guided walk along the lakeshore trail and soak in the quiet beauty of the lake as the surrounding peaks glow in warm sunset colors. Then, we’ll make our way up to the rockpile for the best panoramic views as the sky transitions from day to night.
With minimal light pollution, Moraine Lake offers incredible stargazing. We’ll use telescopes and binoculars to get a closer look at planets, constellations, and even the northern lights if conditions are right.
If you want to escape the crowds and enjoy Moraine Lake in a way most visitors never do, this tour is for you.

Our guy, Justin, was incredibly informative, very conversational with extreme high energy. It’s unfortunate. The weather wasn’t really on our side this evening… But just made the best of it unfortunately, we did not see any wildlife either… But at least the company and the landscape was beautiful.

Great ride up to Moraine. Weather was great and it was like we had the lake to ourselves. Great guide that took care of everyone. The photos I took are so beautiful.

We had a great experience on this trip. Laura was a great guide. She knew so much history about the surrounding and all the landmarks. She spoke clearly and had the sweetest voice. She handled our little rain shower so well. She came equipped with so many extra amenities that we didn’t expect. Hot cocoa, hot tea, umbrellas, ponchos, rain jackets, head lamps, and more. She truly thought of everything.

Moraine Lake without the crowds! The golden hour on the rock pile was the highlight of our trip. We got to sit and listen to nature. It gets dark late in the summer but it was still beautiful to see the night sky. Tobias was patient and helpful. My 82 yo mom was able to make it up and down the rock pile. He was also quite passionate and knowledgeable about the national park. Bonus, we saw 2 bears!

What will make any tour great despite the unforeseen circumstances are passionate guides like the ones we had on this tour. We've learned so much during these few hours thanks to all the anecdotes and interesting facts they had to share with us. Morant's Curve was on my "bucket list" for a while and I was very happy to discover it during the tour. We went then to the main destination: Moraine Lake and we were the only ones there. It felt like such a privilege. It was so quiet and peaceful by the lake. Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side and we couldn't see any star that night. My only advice would be to prepare yourself to this eventuality as it can happen in a place where weather is so unpredictable. We still enjoyed the night, the peacefulness and beauty of that place, as well as a great tea to keep us warm, though our hearts did not need it... :)
