A Walk Through History
Experience romantic Chester and hear stories of the lives and loves of the people who have lived here over the centuries, in a way that only an experienced guide can tell.
Let Chester cast its spell on you; a glorious, ancient city with a rare elegance in its beautifully preserved old buildings.
From its beginnings as a city of Legions and the cross roads of the British Isles to what is now a lively city with energy in its air, yet also mature and relaxed.
The sense that most of England's history is encapsulated here in its broad, cobbled, picturesque streets and its profusion of Rows.
Take the stress out of the planning and book 'The Heart of Chester Walking Tour', taking in the centre of the city and ensuring that you don’t miss those headline sights, allowing time for photographic opportunities and creating your own memories.

The Town Hall square will be the starting point of our adventure. Imagine a scene and a place and tread with me in the location of their stories, a Roman Fortress, a medieval abbey, Chesters gothic style town hall.
Chester Cathedral
Chester Cathedral and surrounding area -A Mercian princess and a talking goose! A Norman Earl, the Wolf with the power to make and break Laws. A survivor of the Dissolution frenzy. A Victorian facelift.

My wife and I attended the Heart of Chester guided walk with Caroline. The walking tour was conducted at an appropriate pace and the size of the group was just right. Caroline was very informative explaining both the history and important sites of the city. I would thoroughly recommend this walking tour. Thank you Caroline

My husband and I attended the Heart of Chester guided walk with Caroline. The whole tour was excellent and Caroline explained and added context to the history of Chester throughout the ages and showed us both significant but also lesser known sights. Fabulous thank you Caroline 😊

Went on 10th October. Took my grandson and his American partner. All loved it but perhaps me most despite living here fore for over 50 years. Caroline was a brilliant guide! Fascinating historical facts, amusing anecdotes, brought Chester alive. Strongly recommend to locals as well as visitors.

Caroline was an excellent guide, she gave an informed and entertaining tour of Chester from Roman times to the present day. It included the outside of the cathedral, the walls and the city’s notable buildings with a fascinating tale at each stop.

Spent a couple of days in Chester seeing the sights but we booked the walking tour to learn the history. Great walking tour with Phil who was very knowledgeable and we were taken places that we wouldn’t have been able to see any other way. Well worth the money.
