Immerse yourself in a Valencian culinary experience with local (and Michelin-star trained) chef José, located just steps away from Valencia's old town. Meet Jose at IVAM and get a guided tour of the neighborhood as you walk 10 minutes to his home. Begin by learning an innovative molecular gastronomy technique followed by crafting a unique and refreshing sangria. Next, delve into the world of rice and paella (its history, culture, and tradition), learning the secrets and tricks that will not only help you master paella but also cook any dish you desire at home. Paella is typically eaten with friends and family on Sundays in Valencia - Jose believes that every day is a Sunday and is excited to share with you how to cook a traditional Valencian paella! While your paella cooks, learn to make two tapas from scratch. After cooking, enjoy the meal you helped prepare with Jose at the dining table. Your meal concludes with a creamy mousse for dessert as well as cremaet, considered a Valencian must-try for coffee lovers! This was a fantastic experience, we loved it. Jose is a proffessional, he showed us how to properly prepare the Valencian paella, it was alot of fun and we learned so much about the ingredients and cooking. It is the highlight of our trip so far and we will go for another session in future if possible.

Every moment of this experience was fabulous! Jose is a wonderful gourmet chef as well as having a great personality! He immediately made us feel at home as we talked and helped create delicious tapas with a new twist. We loved making the traditional paella with him and enjoyed trying some new drinks and a delicious dessert that was a creative twist on horchata, a typical Valencian drink which he turned into mousse with chocolate shavings. I can’t recommend this experience highly enough. Jose is a star and cooking with him was the highlight of our week.

This was a gift to my husband, and it was the two of us in Jose’s apartment. What a fun time! We really enjoyed the cooking, the local drinks, and the history geography stories. Heartily recommend. Having the recipes to take home and recommendations for local shopping is a bonus.
