4.00The tour operator was well organized, friendly and gracious. The person met us with water and small gifts for the kids and then did a great job explaining exactly what to expect. The Vatican museum obviously has an impressive display of artifacts and art, but the herding of massive crowds with an expectation to “keep it moving!” was disappointing and distracting. The first quarter of a mile was shoulder to shoulder, seven wide at times. This was further congested by a constant onslaught of tour guide led groups streaming in and around everything like they had priority over others. Chaos. All that aside, the art, particularly the masterpiece of the Sistine Chapel is life changing. If you can prepare yourself for the first 2/3 the experience is a must.

4.00The normal lines are long, so purchasing a skip the line ticket is a great way to enter with no wait. A guide escorted us up to that point. After that, you are on your own! I recommend renting the audio equipment. It took a long time to go through the museum due to the crowd.
