This tour will take you across the historic centre of York and stop at a number of independent businesses, each one of which will provide you with generous examples of their fabulous food & drink. You'll get to enjoy Yorkshire Cheeses, Fish & Chips, Tacos, Chocolate and Pintxos with Sherry before choosing a sweet or savoury finale with a well earned Yorkshire ale!

While walking between the venues you'll hear a bit about the history of York and pass by several of the cities major attractions such as York Minster, Cliffords Tower and the City Walls.

Your guide is a York based food writer who knows the city and its hospitality scene intimately. He's been featured in the Lonely Planet guide, is a coordinating judge for the Guild of Fine Food and helps run York Food & Drink Festival....You can recognise him by the cutlery tattoos!

This was a food lovers dream food tour!! Ben took us to the perfect mixture of sweet and savory spots run by inspired creative people of exceptional talent. It’s hard to say what I liked best: chocolate samples from around the world, fantastic fish and chips, best macarons ever, a connoisseur’s sampling of seven different kinds of gin, spicy tacos, delicious Yorkshire pudding or sticky toffee pudding. And we enjoyed it all while on a lovely walking tour of one of the most charming places on the planet. It was an afternoon of really fun people and really exceptional food!

A great way to see places of interest in York. Host Ben was excellent. We loved the tasty food and drink he organised and we were also able to follow up on food recommendations he made.

A fun tour with Ben who was a very knowledgable guide. Tasty morsels throughout the tour with some history thrown in. Highly recommend you do this on Day 1 in York for excellent food recommendations for your stay

Ben arranged a bespoke tour for a corporate day. He produced an excellent itinery, taking into acocunt our individual needs and introducing us to a range of cuisines. As someone who has lived in York a while, it was great to find new places that I'd have never considered trying. Not only where the venues and variety of food well chosen, Ben was extremely knowledgeable about the city and the independent venues we visited. The experience was hugely enjoyable and worked well as a work event, encouraging us to experience new things together and generating interesting discussions of our culinary experiences, getting to know each other much better.

Ben met our small group promptly, and looked after us brilliantly for the next three hours. He took us to a wide variety of eateries, all delicious, all fun, and a wonderful introduction to what York has to offer. He also had a wide ranging knowledge of the fascinating history of York. He told us that he was a judge for the Great Taste awards, and this possibly informs his enthusiasm and knowledge of food. I would warmly recommend this tour/ experience. We have already booked to return to York to explore everything more, feeling more confident after such a fun introduction to this beautiful, friendly place. Many thanks Ben

A fantastic tour! Ben is a great host — knowledgeable, enthusiastic and organized — and the food was terrific. York is a great food city, with wonderful restaurants and a market in the Shambles with a huge variety of stalls. It really helps to have someone to guide you to the best. Great value of the money too.
