Every city has it’s shopping and coffee culture but Belfast city has a unique past after coming out of 30 years of conflict.Your guides are the original drivers who had to transport their communities through the bullets and bombs of THE TROUBLES and have their lives at risk every time they seat in their black cabs.
The North of Ireland has become famous for the murals painted in almost every area of the country . These pictures of IRA ,UVF murals are often flashed around the world on news bulletins or used as a backdrop when interviewing people. They often depict the history and political views of both traditions and are a way of marking territory. These wall paintings often look intimidating but they have become as much of a tourist attraction as many of the regular attractions within Belfast and beyond.

Our driver was Ricky. We thought this tour was fantastic - everyone coming to Belfast should do this tour. We are from Australia and it was a real eye opener and something we will talk about for years to come. Excellent knowledge and gave us a different prospective to what we had heard growing up.

Thank you Brendan and Black Taxi Tours for such a moving, unforgettable experience. From minute 1, Brendan was aware of my Dad’s mobility issues and made he felt comfortable and ease throughout the tour. But beyond that, the depth of knowledge and quality of conversation allowed us to learn so much about Belfast’s history and what it can teach us.

We were fortunate to have gotten Emanuel as our driver / guide.... At 69 yo He had been a 7yr prisoner himself with the UK at the young age of 17. He artfully and "gut wrenchingly" designed his tour to slowly reveal his personal story and his relationship to some of the martyrs who died and who have murals on the walls of Belfast. We were stunned to learn even though the last death was 2001, the hatred is alive still in Northern Ireland. We had no idea. WE ARE ALL TGE SAME, WHY CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG?

Wonderful tour. We saw many historic areas where the conflict in Dublin occurred. Our tour guide David is a local who knew all the details about how the "Troubles" began and raged on for years. He grew up in Dublin during the "Troubles" and had first hand information about how the conflict affected friends and family. His knowledge added a lot to the tour.

First things first, this booking was so easy to work with. We booked for 3:00pm because our bus was getting in at 2:15pm and I wanted to put a buffer in in case we were late. We ended up being on time and got to the meeting spot early, so I told the company so they knew where we were, and they were able to move the time of the tour up 15 minutes. Then they were able to drop us off at the train station afterwards since we were taking a train to Dublin after the tour. Great service. The tour itself was also fascinating. Jim, our guide, was knowledgeable and friendly. He was really able to personalize a lot of the information to our interests, and he answered all of our questions. It really was a phenomenal tour, and I learned so much.
