Arc de Triomphe

A unique viewpoint. From the top of the panoramic terrace, your eyes sweep over the whole of Paris. The revisited Antiquity. Architect Jean-François Chalgrin was inspired by the Roman Arch of Titus in a single arch, but went beyond it by exceptional dimensions (about 50 m high, 45 m long and 22 m wide) and abandoning columns. A key place of major national events. Wanted by Napoleon in 1806, the Arc de Triomphe was inaugurated in 1836 by French king, Louis-Philippe, who dedicated it to the armies of the Revolution and the Empire. The Unknown Soldier was buried at the base of the arch in 1921. The flame of remembrance is rekindled every day at 18:30.

An evening visit at 9:30, however, we were a little early and they let us in before our allotted time. Never knew it was possible to get up to the top of the Arc de Triomphe and it was wonderful. Do bear in mind there is no lift and 284 steps to climb on a mostly spiral staircase. Also be careful when crossing the very busy roundabout to get to the attraction.

I walked 30 minutes to the Arch and there was nobody there from the tour. I was getting really anxious about missing the tour. When I went to viator and tried contacting the host I just got a message saying tours had been canceled due to a strike. I would like a refund

This tour is perfect for just coming to see the sight and not having to rush, follow a guide or stay with a group. We listened to the audio guide after visiting because of no data or wifi, but it was nice just to enjoy going up to the top of the Arc at our own pace (there are a LOT of stairs!) explore the bit of the museum in the attic there and see the layout of Paris at night when we went. Tickets and entry were easy with no issue - screenshots do work with zooming in for anyone else trying to save money and not use too much data. I also appreciated the email from Viator notifying me of the possible strike on the monument on the day I had scheduled. The email included other dates I could visit without hindrance. Greatly appreciated that despite messing up some previous plans, but I was able to rescheduled on a day they offered.
