This was fabulous. Could have done without lunch on the front end of the noon tour, but once we were in the rainforest, the fun started. Highly recommend everything about this experience, but know that you will get soaked! A bit of fitness is required, too, and no fear of water, as you will be plunging into it! Our guides, KC, Caesar and Ronald, were perfect in every way — exceptionally competent, trustworthy and personable. I felt safe the entire time, and they made everything fun.

This was a very fun adventure. I could have easily skipped the lunch on the front end of the 12:00pm tour and would have preferred to go straight to the canyoning, but once we were in the rainforest, the experience was exceptional. We rappelled down four rock faces and into canyons; we plunged into waterfalls, and zip lined twice through beautiful scenery. Our guide trio of JC, Caesar and Ronald were absolutely perfect in every way — competent, trustworthy and very personable. They encouraged us when a little fear crept in at times, and I always felt safe in their hands. It’s important for those considering this activity that you have to have a modicum of fitness to do the activities. You have to feel comfortable with heights (obviously), plunging into refreshing (but a little cool) water, and traversing in elevation and over slippery rocks at times. You will get soaked, so don’t do this city if you’re worried about your hairdo! Highly, highly recommend!!

I had an excellent experience on the Arenal Volcano Canyoning and Waterfall Rappelling tour with La Roca Canyoning and would definitely recommend it. The course isn’t overly crazy or scary, and I felt very safe the entire time. Safety is clearly a big focus, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The group size was just right (around 10–11 people), and the pace was comfortable without ever feeling rushed. The staff were genuinely friendly and made the experience fun while staying professional. My guides — Elder, JC, Kendal, and Ronald — did a great job engaging with everyone and keeping things light. They even played around with us a bit (safely), like getting us extra wet, which added to the experience. The waterfall jumps aren’t intimidating at all — they’re into small pools right next to you. The course is very well planned and thought out. The ziplines are okay, but the rappelling is definitely the highlight. The final grapple is a nice mix of everything you’ve done so far. It ends with a short uphill walk, which was fine for me but could be tiring for some. They provide a towel, a bottle of water, changing rooms, and lockers. Photos were reasonably priced. Overall, this is a great operation run by good people. I’d absolutely do it again if I were back in La Fortuna.

After a nice little lunch (included), we headed out on a large truck to the canyon. The ride itself was a fun little jaunt through the jungle, over a jungle road. Once we arrived, we met our crew. These guys are all about safety. And loads of fun! Our family of five was joined by another family of six, another of 4 and a couple, so a large group. But once we got through the initial briefing with the crew leader, Caesar, we began the first descent. All equipment in great shape, the bridges, cables and steps all well maintained, and bail out points for the faint of heart were plentiful. Our trip included numerous rappels, a couple of zips, some rock jumps into the river and a good hike back up. Each challenge was a burst of adreneline, but the crew assisting us all was top notch, enjoying their job, and attentive to each participants level of courage, shall we say. Great sense of humor amongst them all. We rarely ever take advantage of photographs, but for this activity it was a must, and the guys got some really great shots. Amazing canyon deep in the jungle. Really a special treat to not only be in a location like this, but having so much fun as a family, too! HIGHLY recommend!

A lot of fun! Safe and well organized. I have a little experience canyoneering and incredibly well thought out riggings and multiple backups (bolle from both top and bottom) should any single point become compromised. Thanks guys!!
