I highly recommend this tour. It was raining heavily but they had umbrellas for everyone and covered educational areas where the group stopped for short presentations and tastings. David, our guide, was experienced, personable, and very knowledgeable. He worked in the fields when he was growing up, so he has personal experience with the whole process.

The chocolate tour in La Fortuna was such a great surprise. It was right in town, super convenient, and absolutely worth it. Our guide was incredibly informative. I learned so much about the history of cacao, how it is grown, how it is processed, and how chocolate is actually made from start to finish. It was one of those experiences where you think you know something, and then you realize you really did not. There were so many smells and tastes throughout the tour. You get to experience the cacao at different stages, not just the finished chocolate. It felt interactive and immersive instead of just someone talking at you. The tasting portions were generous and everything was delicious. It was not overpriced at all, especially for how much you learn and how much you get to try. It is an easy activity to add into your day since it is right in La Fortuna. If you want something educational, cultural, and delicious without needing a full day commitment, this is absolutely worth it.

This was one of the best experiences I had in La Fortuna. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to explain the entire coffee process while answering all of our questions. The coffee itself was absolutely incredible — I have never had coffee like that in my life. It was smooth, rich, and completely unforgettable. The property is also beautiful, peaceful, and feels very authentic. If you’re visiting La Fortuna, this tour is a must-do.

Such a great tour! Immersive, educational and fun! My partner and I went on the 8am tour with David, who was such a great tour guide. We had the perfect amount of coffee and chocolate to start the day, plus some great souvenir options to choose from. Would highly recommend!
