Arenal 1968 Volcano View & Trails

The tour starts with a hotel pickup followed by a 30-minute drive to the 1968 Arenal Volcano Park, where you will start your activity, a 2.30 hour hike to the base of Arenal Volcano. The hike is fairly easy and most of it is over flat ground. The goal is to arrive at a Dry lava field from 1968 eruption (this part of the trail is rocky), see it, talk about it and give you all the history about the Arenal Volcano.

La Fortuna Waterfall

La Fortuna Waterfall is an amazing natural spot, about 70-75 meters tall. To get to the bottom, you'll need to go down and then climb back up around 500 steps, but it’s totally worth it. There are safe spots where you can swim and enjoy the fresh water. This is the perfect mix of adventure and tropical beauty in Costa Rica.

We had a great time on this tour with our guide Wilbur. It was about as long as advertised (~7:30-4:30), included a good lunch, and generally everything was taken care of.

The volcano hike and hanging bridges tour were beautiful, and swimming by the waterfall was an added bonus. Brian was an amazing and very knowledgeable adventure guide!

Chino was great. It’s a pretty intense hike even as someone athletic. But the customer service and care was great. The food was really good too

What a day! Three hikes in one day with a great tour guide and “we just met” group of people = a fantastic day. If you are in La Fortuna for a day or two and want to hit the highlights..look no further. The tour was very organized, a good mix of history, sight seeing, hiking, and…did I say hiking. Lunch is included but feel free to bring snacks.

Overall is okay and they provided tasty lunch. However, our tour felt way too rushed. Our experience with the volcano hike was not great. We had some trouble going downhill after the pouring rain earlier in the day. Our guide told us we need to walk faster then left us behind. We barely had any time spent at the final watching point and was rushed to leave. Our guide told us the tour will end around 4~5pm but we were rushed to back to the van around 3:00pm. For the money that was paid, I would think much better to go on a self guided tour.

Our guide Chino is very friendly and knowledgeable. He founds so many animals for us. As a tourist, you couldn’t find these animals yourself, because they all hide in the woods.

Good tour. Covers a lot of area. Waterfalls, volcano, and bridges through the rain forest. 3 separate locations and a great meal. 👍
