Flexibility is key when you're on holiday. This is why when you book our bikes, there is no time pressure! Simply pick up and return your bikes any time between 9am and 5pm. For those unsure how far they want to ride, simply call us from the trail to organize your return shuttle.

Our 24 hour cancellation policy means you can reserve your bikes in advance with the knowledge that if anything changes, you can get your money back!

Every season we provide a fleet of new season bikes to choose from.

Our expert staff will pair you to your perfect bike and helmet, match you with your ideal trail, and make sure you’re completely kitted out before you leave with easy to read maps and the best advice.

What To Expect

Located at the heart of the Queenstown Trail Better By Bike has some amazing ride options beginning right outside our location - literally! Kiwi owned and operated we’d love to show you our backyard and introduce you to the best trails around. Trails that were once known only to locals and enthusiasts are now accessible to you! We Provide: Helmets, panniers, maps, support if needed along the trails, great customer service and smiles for free! We also have environmentally friendly drink bottles and yummy trail snacks available for purchase. Please Bring: Sunscreen, water, camera, maybe some swimwear and a towel for a quick dip in the river along the way. During winter months warm clothes and gloves are a must! Duration: Anytime between 9am - 5pm

This is the first time we have used e-bikes but they were definitely worth it. On arrival we had two bike setup and adjusted for height etc. The bike came with waterproof paniers which was handy to store our belongings in. We cycled from Arrowtown along the Bridges Trail to the bungy bridge. We were feeling great so carried on to the Gibbston Valley and the Kinross winery were we had a beautiful lunch (highly recommended). The views along the way were spectactular. The e-bikes were fantastic and made the whole trip a pleasure rather an endurance challenge.

Gotta love these high quality .. comfortable seats .. electric bikes! Staff was friendly and informative. Took the bikes on a 3 hour round trip journey which was fairly easy. Especially with turbo mode on the steeper parts. We had a sunny day with pretty windy gusts which made it really challenging and fun to ride across the swinging suspension bridges!! Second one is pretty high above the river ! Don’t look down ! lol. We did the orange route to the bungy bridge to watch them jump. There is food and a bathroom at the bridge. We had a great day! Thank you better by bike NZ !!

We hired 2 bikes and cycled from Arrowtown along the Bridges Trail, then the Gibbston Valley trail. Excellent well maintained and sign posted trails. Better By Bike team were very friendly and made sure that the bikes were setup for each rider. Bikes are very good and well maintained.

We are so glad we did this! Family of 4 with 2 kids (14 & 11), we didn’t plan to go e-bike riding (hence the kid in the white jumper) but we had a blast. Superman set us up and explained it all. We went on a quick 2.5 hr trip to the Bungy Bridge and back. We lived the scenery and the suspension bridges. Got covered in mud but had a great time.
Best E bike shop in town.

10/10 experience! Definitely one of the highlights of my stay in Queenstown. Highly recommend going to Better By Bike in ArrowTown as they are so knowledgeable not just about the E bikes but also the different tracks you’re wanting to go on. The tracks are definitely moderate for everyone. Enjoyed it so much! Worth the money for some amazing views. I would recommend warm active wear as I wasn’t prepared.

If you plan to rent bike in Arrowtown, do not hesitate to come to Better By Bike, recommended!. Reception is warm, welcoming and professional. I didn't meet Meg but Suman was there. He gave me tutorial and info about how to use e-bike (it's my first time using e-bike) and the bike trail. The e-bike performed well and I didn't have problems with it at all. I did the Arrow Bridges River Trail and it's really an amazing experience. Thank you Better By Bike and Suman, Best Regards from Indonesia.

Meg was brilliant in showing us how to navigate our bikes. Her directions were spot on. We did the Lake Hayes trail on a beautiful day. What a wonder. The pickup at Ayrburn was tempting but we biked on home to BetterbyBike in Arrowtown. A wonderful day.

This was amazing. We (middle aged and unfit!) booked a day before we hired bikes. On day of booking we had a full briefing of route and instructions on how to operate gears and power the e bike options. Took a couple of hours to get the measure. Went on the arrowtown rivers track. Amazing. I am very scared of heights and one of the swing bridges was “challenging”. Be aware if you are cowardly - like me. The views are stunning. There is an option to get collected after about 11 miles (if knackered or if you have taken too much wine at the vineyards). We biked it back. Trip (23 miles) took 4 hours. With a few stops and a packed lunch. This is a great thing to do.

Hired two e-bikes for the day with pre-arranged lift back to Arrowtown . Bikes were great quality . Information and tuition excellent . Maps to get you on the wine route excellent . Stunning scenery 95% off road . Choice of wineries for sampling wines and dining in the sunshine excellent . One of favourite days throughout our three week trip In NZ .
