My friends and I decided to head inland away from the beaches and nightlife of Cartagena, and we were all glad we did. The excursion was filled with gorgeous vistas of flourishing jungle on mountainsides and valleys. The forests were so green and lush, in fact, they appeared to be making their own clouds. Along with the trees were a lot of vibrant flowers, fruits and other tropical plants. We also saw a variety of wildlife from a Great Horned Owl, parrots and macaws (both in rehabilitation and in the wild), to tortoises and even howler monkeys from a distance. All of the employees at the place were very friendly and knowledgeable about their conservation efforts, other flora and fauna, and the local ecosystem in general. I learned so much about parrots and macaws, in particular. Very interesting. The guides also educated us on a variety of trees and took us up the mountain to plant one of our choosing. I suppose I'll have to return in another decade to see how well it's thriving (hopefully). The snacks and food provided to us included fresh fruits from the area and other traditional Colombian fare that was all quite tasty. I wouldn't expect to completely fill up on the offerings though, particularly if you exert yourself on the ATVs and other activities around the preserve. The ATVs themselves were a lot of fun to ride. It seemed they only had two four-wheelers for solo riding and two of the side-by-side vehicles that seat 4-6. So just be aware that for groups of 3+, not every person will have their own four-wheeler to ride throughout and may have to switch from time-to-time. Regardless of what you ride, if you go during the wet season, you'll definitely want to bring a shoes/boots, pants, and a long shirt that you can get muddy. In short, the excursion had a wonderful variety of activities that you wouldn't normally experience with a Cartagena trip, and it was an extremely great value. All four in my group would highly recommend, plus proceeds go back to helping with the conversation efforts. It's really win-win!

This was a beautiful experience. It includes great food, feeding the birds while getting their history and back story of the preserve, and atving through the preserve and seeing all the beauty of forest. Even got to plant a tree to add to the forest. It gives a purpose to the work. I can't forget. Corina was a beauty. An amazing tour guide and great singer. I had fun in our carpool karaoke lol.

Less than an hour from Cartagena, this adventure is the perfect mix of adrenaline, nature, and purpose! Riding through the tropical dry forest on an ATV was exhilarating, and spotting wildlife, like the adorable Titi monkeys, made it even more special. The parrot rehabilitation project is truly inspiring, and the team’s passion and professionalism shine through. Breakfast by the lake was delicious, and every detail was thoughtfully planned. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or a nature lover, this experience is unforgettable. Wear comfy clothes, bring sunscreen, and get ready for an adventure with impact! 🌿🐒
