K. Panich Sticky Rice

The First Michelin food stop will be at Kor Panich Mango Sticky Rice, open since 1932 and known for its delicious mango sticky rice dish. The shop originally served their unique dish and recipe to the Thai kings and queens. The shop was founded in 1932 by Kaap and his wife, and it was his wife who made the sticky rice. She followed the recipe her mother, who worked in the royal palace kitchen, had passed down. As we dig into the perfectly ripe mangoes, we find them incredibly juicy. We then place them onto a bed of warm sticky rice, topped with creamy coconut milk lightly tinged with sugar and salt. Finally, we add a sprinkle of fried mung beans for an extra crunch, resulting in perfection. The restaurant is typical of this area. There are only a few tables, so we experience eating while sitting on a wooden chair by the roadside amid blaring cars and tuk-tuks passing by in front of us.

We took part in a guided food tour in Bangkok and were absolutely thrilled! The tour took us to several Michelin-listed restaurants where we got to sample a wide variety of delicious Thai dishes – plenty of food, and all of excellent quality. A real highlight was the ride in a Tuk Tuk – both to and from our hotel, as well as between the different locations. The rides were fast and a bit wild – definitely not for the faint-hearted, as the drivers seem to ignore traffic rules entirely! But that’s part of the fun and adds to the authentic Bangkok experience. Our tour guide was amazing: friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate. He showed us some interesting parts of the city and gave detailed explanations about each dish we tried. It really enriched the experience and gave us deeper insight into Thai food culture. We would absolutely do this tour again and can recommend it without hesitation!

Amy took us to all the great spots. We had pad Thai, mangoes and sticky rice, tom yum soup, etc. Then, we hit Chinatown for some great food, even partaking in a Duran. The tuk tuk driver was outstanding. Amy had the best sense of humor. I would recommend this tour to anybody, especially if you're a foodie!

Tom was an excellent guide. He taught us history, all about where the food came from and the history that impacted it. He also joked with the group and made everyone very very comfortable.
