Durres Amphitheatre
The biggest amphitheater in the Balkan, build during the Roman Empire
Built in the sixth century, it was considered as one of the most powerful fortresses along the western coast of the Adriatic. Very good excursion, 100% recommended. The guide spoke pretty good English even for mid-level Spaniards. We recommended a very good place to eat in Berat and also recommended the dishes. A hit. The place is called çuçi and although it is a very normal place the food is very good and cheap.

Long day but got to see 3 places. Tour leader had a lot of information to share. Tour was in 2 languages which made it seem like a lot.

We had an excellent experience with our Bledi guide. The drive to Berat and Durres has been quiet because of the good driving of the driver. Bledi is a very well-trained professional in history, politics and very knowledgeable about the day-to-day life of Albania. We made nice excursions with the whole group and received good recommendations. Thank you very much

Great tour! We had a lovely day visiting Durress and Berat with a super fun and experienced guide. Smooth pick-up, great communication and well planned route. We managed to visit many beautiful sights in a day but I never felt like I was being rushed. The guide speaks perfect English and Italian. Highly recommended 👌

If you’re Italian, this is a 5-star cultural delight. If you’re English-speaking, enjoy paying to be background noise. This tour was sold as English only. What we got instead was “Italian Comedy Hour with Bladey.” Right at the start, he announced there were 5 English speakers (us included) and the rest Italians. From then on, the tour turned into a live podcast… in Italian. Think The Ghost Whisperer: a spirit talks for two minutes with endless detail, and Jennifer Love Hewitt sums it up as “He says hi.” That’s exactly how our “English” explanations went. The Italians got history, banter, inside jokes. We got: “It was the backside. You couldn’t tell the difference from the backside.” No context. No idea why we were talking about backsides. But the Italians were in stitches, and we were just left blinking. Ratio of Italian to English? About 70/30, and the 30 was usually filler like: “I’ll check and let you know.” Spoiler: he never did. By the time we reached Berat, we’d had enough. We ditched the group, explored on our own, and learned more in ten minutes from a Google search than from the entire paid tour. That should tell you everything. So unless you’re fluent in Italian and like feeling smug that the English speakers are completely lost, save your money. For us, this wasn’t a tour. It was a very expensive silent movie, with occasional bad subtitles.
