Award-Winning Sachsenhausen Memorial Tour – A Profound Journey Through History
Sachsenhausen was the first purpose-built concentration camp, designed as a center of terror, persecution, and systematic murder. Initially, it imprisoned those the Nazis deemed racially, socially, or politically inferior.
Travel through the town of Oranienburg and uncover how the local population both supported and benefited from its existence. Your expert, licensed guide will lead you through key sites, including the punishment cells, infirmary, barracks, gas chamber, and crematoria. Hear powerful stories of resilience, courage, and solidarity among inmates in the face of unimaginable horror.
The tour also includes a visit to the Inspectorate of Camps—an unassuming yet critical building from which the Nazis controlled the entire concentration camp system across Europe.
A €3 per person donation supports the site's maintenance, and preservation and future restoration of the Sachsenhausen Memorial.

No matter how much you think you know about Sachsenhausen or the organization that conceived, developed and administered it this tour will change you. This is not site seeing; this is visiting history. The tour is well-organized and our guide, Mikhail, was excellent. He blended historical facts with testimony from survivors and anecdotes of his own. This was a powerful experience. I’m not recommending it….I’m telling you not to miss it.

A deeply moving and important tour. Our tour guide Mikhail was wonderful, respectful, informative and showed a huge depth of knowledge. This is not an easy day but Mikhail helped navigate the horror with great sensitivity. We would thoroughly recommend this tour .

Mikhail was a very nice guide, very knowledgeable about holocaust history. I recommend this tour a lot, while it might be tough to hear, education on this is very important , as it’s the only way to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself.

It was amazing! The tour took a long time, it was full of details and information about everything. The guide Ariel was simply the most professional I could see. The place we were visiting, a former concentration camp, was a place where we have to be strong for, and being supported with all the details from the guide made it a very interesting experience.

Joseph is a great teacher and is very engaging throughout the tour. I appreciated his compassion for the difference in experience each person had during our visit. There were things in the tour that I chose to not interact with and his check-in was extremely kind.
