Award-Winning Sachsenhausen Memorial Tour – A Profound Journey Through History
Sachsenhausen was the first purpose-built concentration camp, designed as a center of terror, persecution, and systematic murder. Initially, it imprisoned those the Nazis deemed racially, socially, or politically inferior.
Travel through the town of Oranienburg and uncover how the local population both supported and benefited from its existence. Your expert, licensed guide will lead you through key sites, including the punishment cells, infirmary, barracks, gas chamber, and crematoria. Hear powerful stories of resilience, courage, and solidarity among inmates in the face of unimaginable horror.
The tour also includes a visit to the Inspectorate of Camps—an unassuming yet critical building from which the Nazis controlled the entire concentration camp system across Europe.
A €3 per person donation supports the site's maintenance, and preservation and future restoration of the Sachsenhausen Memorial.

The tour was very sobering and excellent. The description on the tour page is inadequate so I had to email with questions to clarify. The tour took around 6.5 hours (10a-430p). 1 hour on the train & 25 minute walk to the camp one way so roughly 3 hours just for transportation. You will need to buy ABC train tickets so plan on additional cost. The tour involved lots of walking. The camp is located in an open area so it was very cold & windy & I am glad we were dressed warm & prepared. No time to eat or buy food so bring food/drinks or plan on buying at the train station (the meeting point). The Viator charged us 80% for a one year old, which after emailing, we got reimbursed for a baby. Xavier is very knowledgeable and welcomes any questions. You are allowed to take pictures and videos, except one place, BUT you are not allowed to take notes.

Scott was very informative and informed regarding the history of Germany and what led up to the holocaust and building of concentration camps. He also answered any questions that members of our tour group had. Definitely would recommend the tour for high school aged and above.
