We took the Caminito del Rey day trip from Granada with Discovering Spain, and overall, it was a great experience. Communication with the tour agency was smooth, and we had no trouble locating the meeting point using Google Maps. Our group was small—just four people (2+2)—so we traveled comfortably in a sedan. Our driver, Manuel, was friendly and spoke English well. During the 1 hour and 45-minute ride, he provided an informative overview of Granada and the surrounding areas. Upon arriving at the Caminito del Rey parking lot, we had a 20-minute walk to the actual entrance of the trail. Manuel took care of our tickets, made sure we were in the right line, and then departed. From that point, the official park guides took over. Each participant was given a helmet and a wireless receiver with a headset, ensuring we could hear the guide clearly throughout the hike. The walk itself was relatively easy, following wooden and rock pathways along the mountainside. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking—no photo or video can truly capture it. The only real challenge was the heat. It’s essential to bring plenty of water, dress lightly, and wear comfortable sneakers. One unexpected aspect was that after the official guided portion of the trail (which lasted around 2 to 2.5 hours), we were left at a point that required an additional 30-minute walk to reach the exit. Just beyond that point, there's a vending machine with cold water—don’t skip it! An ambulance is stationed near the exit for those affected by the heat, underscoring the importance of staying hydrated and protected. Despite the heat and fatigue, the stunning views made it all worthwhile. Manuel met us at the exit and gave us time to rest at a shaded café area before driving us back to Granada. The entire trip took about 7.5 hours, with approximately 3 hours spent commuting and the rest at the park. I highly recommend visiting Caminito del Rey, and Discovering Spain made the journey smooth and convenient.

Excellent views and a marvellous of engineering. If a hot day ensure you have plenty of water and snacks. There are some steep steps up and down. So if you have any injuries or difficulties you may need to reconsider. This also goes for if you have a fear of heights. Overall an excellent day trip. We had and excellent driver which made the 2hr trip each way more enjoyable. He had an excellent knowledge of Spain and Granada.

The tour consisted of a bus trip from Granada to Carminito del Rey where the real guided tour started. We were assigned guides and we had a great guide who took the time and paced the walk perfectly. She was enthusiastic and spent her time talking about how the dam project evolved and also talked about the flora and fauna. We were passed by numerous groups so our walk was easy and leisurely. Although apprehensive about heights, once started it was not a problem A wonderful experience not to be missed .

We had a great experience! Jose, our driver, was great- friendly, professional, and he drove safely. Once at Caminito del Rey, our guide, Javi, was friendly, professional, and educational….we walked a total of about 6-7km over the 2-2.5 hour tour. My husband and I are in our early 70’s, and we kept up with the pace of the tour. It was a group of about 16 people, and the tour was well organized. I was impressed with their safety protocols. The region was gorgeous! Highly recommend!
