Our full-day excursion to the fascinating Capillas de Marmol (Marble Chapels) will take you on an epic road trip along the famous "Carretera Austral Sur" that crosses some of the most beautiful landscapes of Chilean Patagonia. Always accompanied by first level guides who will inform us about everything we see on the way.
The most interesting point of the tour is probably the boat ride in the General Carrera Lake, which will allow us to approach the Marble Chapels and see them from a unique perspective.

What To Expect
We will leave from your hotel in Coyhaique to begin our trip along the Southern Austral Road, towards Puerto Tranquilo. In our route of approximately 223 km, we will contemplate beautiful forests of lenga, plum or notro, coigüe and ñire. We will also go through important milestones along the way, such as Laguna Chiguay and Portezuelo Ibáñez, which has the highest height of the entire Austral Highway. We will be able to appreciate Cerro Castillo as we approach the Ibañez River valley, crossing the new Cerro Castillo National Park. We will have several photographic stops along our path, where we will pass through the Dead Forest, the witness of the eruption of the Hudson Volcano that took place in 1991, and we will descend through the Murta River Valley until we find ourselves facing the immensity of the General Carrera Lake. We will arrive in Puerto Tranquilo in time for lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon we will make a brief transfer to General Carrera Lake to make the expected navigation to Marble Chapels. After obtaining impressive views of Marble Chapels, we will return to the city of Coyhaique, where we will make a previous stop at the Villa del Cerro Castillo.

5.00Spectacular, exciting, it is a wonderful Tour, it is worth traveling and get to that point. The guide and captain made us feel very safe at the time of the sailing and the course of the trip.

5.00Very good experience! You can see them from Puerto Rio Tranquilo or Puerto Sanchez. We slept in Bahia Murta and here we bought a cave exploring trip. The Austral highway is not in good condition. The drive from Villa Cerro Castillo is long and there is high risk of a tire puncture. That's why I shortened my commute to Bahia Murta.

2.00The cave were beautiful but only an hour of the 14 hour day. The hour includes a 10 min boat ride out to the caves seeing the caves and a 10 min boat ride back. The tour guide spoke English and Spanish. The rest of the 13 hour day the driver who gives a tour of the area you are passing, explains lunch and bathroom stops only speaks Spanish. The description says English but once you book it (and you cant cancel) it says Spanish so I asked if the tour was in English and Spanish and was told yes. Only one hour is very deceiving. The tour says breakfast and a drink with lunch is included which is not true (although you think you are paying for it with the tour). If you want them you have to pay for them. Also, you have to pay for the bathroom. The vehicle's AC also didnt work so we rode with the windows down on a dusty unpaved road for over two hours with dust covering us and the inside of the car. The car rides with stops started at 5:30 a.m. not 6. Its about 5 hours to the caves. Lunch was about an hour and local but again you have to pay for any drink included water even though it says its included. The car ride back with stops was about 5 hours.

5.00By far the possibility of touching the Marble chapels and seeing with your eyes such an overwhelmingly beautiful nature. Which should be noted that the road is very long 4.5 hours and is pure calamine, exhausts a little and can be hungry on the way.

4.00We travel to Puerto Tranquilo from Coyhaique, beautiful road but heavy, take us 4 hours. Upon arrival there are all tourism companies offering the same. It's a little awkward and we found it a little disorganized. Finally when we boarded it was amazing the experience, the place; boats, caves, chapel and cathedral, which is the incredible Full Marble.
