Soon after arriving in the wonderful city we hopped on this at the Train Station stop. Very few on it at the time so ascended and had the front seats. Under the cover, fortuitous as an occasional shower arrived. Sitting back, relaxed, it was a marvellous excursion. With a great commentary. It was fabulous seeing so many attractions in the city centre. Then onwards to more the sylvan outskirts enjoying descriptions of the various attractions and notable institutions such as the American Cemetery and Memorial. During our stay we had the pleasure of visiting many of what we first saw during this superb tour.

Excellent way of getting to know a place. The hop on bus took you round all the Cambridge main colleges. Good informative commentary…rather hard seats!

Good points - Driver was friendly Relatively good value for money. Get a good overview of Cambridge Bad points - The bus is rickety and the suspension is poor, so bangs and crashes at points. The foliage needs cutting at many points. When it goes to the US cemetery it feels hazardous with no seat belts, 40mph feels like 60mph and of anyone pulled out if would be disastrous. Biggest issue though was the terrible Ai commentary. It's on loud speaker so you have to put up .....with....the disjointed....voice the whole way through. They have these buses in all the major cities in the world, can they not afford a few hundred pounds to pay a human to do it.

Very interesting tour to get a global view of the city of Cambridge. One can see the impressive extent of Cambridge University with its many Colleges.

We were very disappointed by the skimpy narration of the history of the Cambridge University colleges. The recording was long on adjectives praising the city's history and very short on stories of historical interest. Frankly, it was boring. We took the Hop on Hop off Bus Tour in Oxford in July and had the opposite experience; it was so descriptive that we rode the route twice to absorb it all! (Note: the bus driver did an amazing job traversing the narrow lanes, the buildings were interesting, and the seats were very comfortable.) Somebody with real knowledge of the city's interesting history should rewrite this tour.

This bus route is the perfect way to get your bearings in Cambridge as a first-time visitor. I was lucky enough to have Michael as my driver twice in one day, and his kindness, helpfulness, and thoughtfulness left a lasting impression. (When I turned my ankle, he truly went above and beyond. Thank you again, Michael!) If you can, grab the very front seat on the top deck — it’s like watching a live-action video game of buses, bikes, scooters and pedestrians. From that vantage point, I watched Michael expertly thread a double-decker through narrow streets, all while calmly handling darting cyclists, slow scooter riders, oblivious walkers, and car drivers convinced the right of way rules didn’t apply to them. It was equal parts sightseeing and masterclass in driving skill. Highly recommend!

Really dis-appointed and annoyed that other passengers spoil the ride for others. We purchased two tickets for a sight seeing tour of the city. We boarded at Silver Street and took our seats on the top deck in the open ended section towards the back of the bus. Then a group of mainly women sat in the empty seats directly in front and to the side of us. Why they purchased the tickets I dont know, throughout the first part of the tour it was yap yap yap, constantly talking between themselves and showing little or no interest in the locations, landscape or buildings. The onboard bus commentary what we could hear of it was actually quite interesting, however, with the constant talking our tour was being spoilt. We elected to get off the bus again back at Silver Street but not before explaining to the driver of the situation. We crossed Silver Street and stood by the bus stop to restart our sightseeing tour with another bus as if we were starting all over again.

A usual experience with Hop on Hop Off but the driver can make a great difference. Ours helped us from start to finish and offered other customers help and recommendations. We had time for the major sites. The American Cemetery and Memorial is a must see.

The sightseeing bus tour was excellent. An enjoyable way to see the city whilst listening to the informative speaker tell you all about the history behind it.
