We’ve been leading our acclaimed Christian Heritage guided walks for over 25 years, and work with a dedicated team of local guides to bring you a small-group walking experience which is personal, engaging and unforgettable. We aim to give you a feel for some of Cambridge's most iconic and influential spots, both on and off the beaten track. Our approach is a little different from a standard tourist tour: we believe that ideas matter, and focus on how a small number of big ideas have shaped the university over eight eventful centuries.
Weaving together stories about the Cambridge characters who transformed the world (such as Isaac Newton, William Wilberforce and John Milton), our guides will lead you through subjects such as the emergence of the university from Christian monasteries, the Protestant Reformation, the development of modern science, movements for the rule of law and religious freedom, and the campaign to abolish the British slave trade.

Round Church Guided Walks
Please note that the below itinerary provides an example of places often visited on the tour, but the route may vary to provide you with the best tour possible on any given day.
The Round Church Visitor Centre
We start at the Round Church, Cambridge's quirkiest (and, we think, most beautiful) church building, which predates the earliest college by 150 years. The church houses an exhibition and 20-minute film, and access to these are included in guided walk tickets.

John was great! Bring your walking shoes, watch out for bikers, and get ready for a deep dive in Cambridge history. Would've been nice to see the insides of some colleges but I get how groups of tourists in campus halls would be distracting.

The walking tour with guide Julia was exceptional in bringing to life a snapshot history of the colleges and history of Cambridge. Informative and knowledgeable whilst being entirely engaging. Highly recommend for the one day tourist, if it is the only activity you do on a visit to this glorious city.

The tour is very well conducted. Martin guide from Round Church , spoke very clearly and passionately about the people and the impact and influence the scholars have in their time and the society at large. I understand the belief , the history culture and politics of the country better . The Christian belief have been relevantly lived out by what the Cambridge scholars .

An excellent and interesting tour from John. He really knew his onions about Cambridge. Lots of history and how it relates to lots of events that have taken a place both in the UK and all around the world. Throughly recommend. (PS another good thing is that the money that’s raised for the tours doesn’t go to a tour firm .. but for the upkeep of the round church.)

Wonderfully informative guide, Dave, who plied us with many many historical and current facts. Easy flat walking, not rushed. Thank you.

Willy gave us an engaging and interesting tour of the colleges of Cambridge, a really great way to get a better understanding of the grand history of the place. Not sure if it was the decision of the guide himself of the fact it's run by the Round Church (maybe I should have expected it), but there was quite a lot of religious overtones to the tour. The introduction to the tour explained how they would focus on how a few people can have a large influence on world history, however it seemed like the theme our guide was trying to promote was instead the importance of Christianity as a motivator in human progress. All fine, but it did get a bit repetitive hearing it at the end of every anecdote. Had to laugh a little when he even used Oliver Cromwell as an example of someone motivated by their Christian beliefs, but failed to mention he the massacre of up a 1/5th of the Irish population.
