This was a terrific tour of a 5 acre family run coffee plantation. From the plants and fruit through harvesting, processing, roasting and a tasting, the tour covers it all. Learned a ton and enjoyed our guide who had a deep knowledge of the enterprise and communicated very well. You will enjoy your time at E Pueblo.

Our El Pueblo Coffee Tour with Alan was a highlight of our time in Monteverde. The experience was informative, engaging, and filled with the kind of local authenticity that makes you truly appreciate Costa Rica’s coffee culture. Alan was an excellent guide—knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about every step of the process. He walked us through the history of coffee in Costa Rica, from cultivation and harvest to roasting and production, weaving in stories and local insights that brought the experience to life. We even learned about sugar cane and its connection to the coffee-making tradition, which added a fun and flavorful touch. The tour ended with a coffee tasting that was both educational and delicious. We sampled a variety of roasts, each with its own character and aroma, paired with small bites—including some of the freshest fruit we’ve ever tasted. It was the perfect way to round out the experience. If you’re in Monteverde, don’t miss this tour. It’s an authentic, hands-on glimpse into one of Costa Rica’s most cherished traditions, guided by someone who clearly loves what he does.

Great tour and guide. Maybe the best coffee I’ve ever had. I wish I lived in St Elena to be friends with proprietors (and their cats).

Excellent tour, very interesting and explanatory. Run by its own owners, the plantation is visited, and the entire coffee process is toured, ending with a tasting of 3 excellent varieties of coffee from the plantation itself. They also have a small shop where you can buy the coffee that was tasted. Highly recommended!
