We made the most delicious amok along with some palm jaggery sweets. Sreng and the team were so accomodating to my vegetarian diet and provided alternatives to maintain my learning experience. They were also so sweet in giving me a knife sharpner set that I've been looking forever! Everyone was so kind, and I made a friend and learned a lot about Cambodian culinary history.

After almost two weeks in Cambodia, I wasn't really sure about the local cuisine as there was such a mix of everything and knew I had to do something about it. Coming to Phnom Penh Spice cooking class allowed me to better understand the different influences that colored the region's culture and food. We got to experience making a spice mix and cooking amok first hand. It was an informative experience, with Sreng and his staff instructing us, helping us, and engaging in a lot of conversation about any questions we had. When we were able to sit down and enjoy the dishes we had contributed to making, they also introduced us to some of the popular music here. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. My tuktuk got a little confused on the way there, so I was a bit lost and late. Then Sreng called, talking to the driver, and finding me so I could join the class. Whatever obstacle comes up, I trust his team to stay calm and resolve it. Highly recommended!

My wife and I had the chance to participate in a traditional Cambodian cooking class in this place, and it was an absolutely beautiful experience. Beyond the delicious recipes we have learned to prepare, it is especially the person who transmits this knowledge that made this moment so special. The course is led by someone passionate, deeply human, caring and generous in sharing their culture. You can feel a real love for Cambodian cuisine and transmission. We learned a lot, in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Every step was explained with patience, smile and availability. We felt welcomed as guests, almost as friends. A huge thank you for this kindness, availability and authenticity. It is an encounter that marks as much as the flavors discovered.

This was my Christmas gift for my wife that turned out to be great! Sreng welcomed us at his place which was bustling with local transports zooming left and right. The place is spacious and feels welcoming. We got to create our own Amok paste that served as the base of the dish. We cut the ingredients, mashed them into a paste and gave it some final touches before they were put into a steamer inside a coconut husk. Sreng served a few drinks and presented some history of Cambodian food, which was a nice interlude to the food prepping. The dishes turned out great, and we all enjoyed the experience. Thank you, Sreng!

Brief summary: Kimlay and Sreng are very warm hosts:inners who give your cooking class with a lot of love for Cambodia and its cuisine. The location is very nice, everything is very well organized and you feel like you are with friends. The food was delicious and it was a wonderful evening! The course is in English! Cooking aprons, as well as drinks are provided. During our stay in Cambodia we fell in love with local cuisine. To get a better insight into these and take a recipe or two with us, we looked around for a cooking class during one of our stays in Phnom Penh. After a short online research, we found Kimlay and Sreng. Booking worked without any problems by email and there is even a free pick-up offered. Our desire to cook the dishes in the vegan version was also fulfilled immediately. The location is hidden behind many small lively streets and is beautiful! You are welcomed by a garden with hundreds of different plants and through a large gate you reach directly into the kitchen. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts:innen and were allowed to make ourselves comfortable with fresh, seasonal fruit. After the welcome and short introduction, we also started straight away. Everything was very well prepared and every step and ingredient were explained, as were numerous questions joyfully answered. After everything simmered in the pot, we went on to a room where Sreng told us about the history of Cambodian cuisine, its connection to the geography of Cambodia and other traditional dishes. The lecture was very interesting and once again opened up a very insightful insight into the culture, people and cuisine of Cambodia. Afterwards we were able to enjoy our very delicious Khmer BBQ, amok and banana dessert (all vegan) and talk to our hosts about everything possible. We ended the evening on the terrace before heading back to the hotel. Thanks again to Kimlay and Sreng! You have created a truly unforgettable evening for us with your warmth!

We cooked a vegetarian Amok, steamed in a coconut, grilled vegetables and an amazing banana dessert. It was really great and we only used ingredients that were not pre-matured. The food was really delicious and we we learnt a lot about Cambodian food in general. Thanks Sreng.
