Latin Adventures is an excellent tour company. It's guides and travel professionals are extremely knowledgable, helpful and kind. Prior to our trip, Dante contacted me via WhatsApp to inform me that the Devil's Nose train tickets were unavailable because the train service had only recently restarted on a very limited basis. It appeared the few tickets available were bought immediately by a third party to be resold at a higher price. We were disappointed of course, but Dante helped me plan a customized experience for my family. Our itinerary was: Day 1 - Hotel pickup in Quito. Visit to Quilotoa Lagoon and spend the night in Riobamba at the beautiful Hacienda Andaluza Day 2 - Visit Alausí (where the train originates) and then go to the mountain overlook to see where the train ride ends, and makes its switchback and returns to Alausí. Then drive back to Quito hotel. Our guide was Diego. He was absolutely superb! An avid climber and naturalist himself, he had in depth knowledge of every area we visited. We traveled as a family of three (me, my partner and our 10yo) and Diego was considerate of each of our needs. He drove for hours at a time in some cases sharing interesting facts along the way. His passion kept us excited. The adjusted itinerary turned out to be a great success! Our kiddo and I did have a little trouble with the altitude at first but we powered through and truly enjoyed the entire experience. We highly recommend using Latin Adventures for your experience in the Andes and we hope you have the great fortune of having Diego as your guide and working with Dante to ensure a smooth experience.
