St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika)
One of Budapest’s most important religious landmarks, this neoclassical basilica is named after Hungary’s first king, St. Stephen. Though we don’t enter during the tour, you’ll hear the story behind its century-long construction and the sacred relic it holds—St. Stephen’s mummified right hand. At 96 meters tall, it shares the title of Budapest’s tallest building with the Parliament, symbolizing the balance between church and state.
The Fat Policeman Statue
The Fat Policeman Statue is one of Budapest’s most beloved and whimsical sculptures. With his round belly and twirled mustache, he represents the friendly face of the Austro-Hungarian era’s gendarmerie. Locals believe rubbing his belly brings good luck—so don’t be shy! This charming bronze figure is a favorite photo stop for visitors exploring the heart of the city.
