Explore Dublin’s gruesome stories of murder, torture, cannibalism, grave robbing, brothels, proposals to eat young children, unearthly worship and much more!

We start our journey at Dublin Castle, where we will explore the torture of the past, speak of priest hunters and unearth why the upper courtyard was nicknamed the Devil’s Half Acre but behind the beautiful architecture is a brutal past.

From here we’ll take the side streets to hear stories of cannibalism and of proposals to eat babies.

As we delve further into Dublin’s dark past, we’ll enter an area once known as Hell. Uncover stories of brothels, witches, and the infamous Hellfire Club.

Passing by the old city walls we’ll learn of grave robbing, The Black Pig, and finish with the very unusual case of a strangler and killer with no legs.

Join us on this 2-hour walking tour as we weave our way through the city streets and back alleys to uncover Dublin’s Dark past.

This was a great walking tour. Kim was our guide and she was so passionate, knowledgeable and entertaining. Lots of memorable stories to take home with us and we got to see some really cool sites along the way. The Christmas lights made everything a little more sparkly. Kim also gave us some great spots to visit afterwards. Would definitely recommend. Thank you!

We booked on the morning for something to do around the city. It was a small group of 10 and the guide Micháel was great from the start, funny, entertaining and interested in not the stories of the city but also interacted with each guest about their own home city! Tour started close by at the castle and progressed across town with each stop only being a few minutes walk away with small bits of information as we walked past things along the way. The stories were dark but not to disturbing, was entertaining watching Micháel tone done his grandeur while children were walking past with families and then jumping back into the various torture methods described! The walk was not strenuous Dublin is quite flat however make sure you dress for the weather appropriately there isn’t much cover at the talking points of the tour so umbrellas or a good warm waterproof coat is advised. All in all Micháel made the experience worthwhile and great value for money!

  • Great tour, interesting stories, wonderful guide! Highly recommend!

This was undoubtedly one of the best tours I've ever been on! The stories were all so interesting and I learned so much about the city's history. The route went through a lot of Dublin, and really allowed you to look at familiar places in a new way. Our guide was wonderful as well. She was a true storyteller who you could tell was very passionate about the subject, and she walked our group through the dark side of Dublin's past. I loved learning more about Dublin as we walked through the city! The tour is fun and the stories are gruesome and memorable- I absolutely recommend doing this tour if it sounds at all like something you'd enjoy!

  • Wonderfully lurid stories!

An impressive and unforgettable evening walking tour! Our guide Kieran told wonderfully lurid stories of torture, murder and myths with enormous passion, bringing history to life in a compelling way. The setting couldn’t be better: it was dark, rainy and precisely because of that there was a mysterious atmosphere that perfectly matched the stories. The fact that he himself is Irish made the whole thing even more authentic. He interweaved personal experiences throughout the tour, creating a warm, involved and special experience. A unique combination of excitement, culture and storytelling: absolutely recommended!

The tour was amazing. Our tour guide, Killian, was so good. It is a dark tour full of torture stories so not for everyone but if you are looking to learn the dark history, I highly recommend the tour and Killian.
