What To Expect

Baixa de Lisboa

The Baixa de Lisboa, also known as Baixa Pombalina, is the heart of the city and one of its most iconic neighborhoods. After the earthquake of 1755, it was completely rebuilt with an innovative urban plan, led by the Marquis de Pombal. The streets are wide, straight and organized in the form of a grid, surrounded by buildings with neoclassical architecture. During the tuk-tuk tour, you will be able to admire places like the Rossio, with its famous cafes and wavewalk, the Piazza da Figueira and the grandiose Piazza do Comércio, facing the Tejo River. This area is ideal for feeling the true spirit of Lisbon – between monuments, historic facades, traditional shops and the lively life of the streets. Igreja de Santa Maria Maior

The Lisbon Cathedral, also known as the Church of Santa Maria Maior, is the oldest cathedral in the city, built in the 12th century after the reconquest of Lisbon by the Moors. With its imposing Romanesque-style facade and its two fortified towers, it is one of the most remarkable monuments of the capital. Over the centuries, the See was being modified and restored, gaining elements of Gothic, Baroque and Neoclassical style. He survived several earthquakes, including the devastating 1755 earthquake, remaining a symbol of faith and resistance. In its interior, the central ship, the altar-mor and the cloister stand out, where archaeological vestiges from earlier eras, including Roman and Visigothic, were discovered. Our 3-hour tour was super enjoyable. We got to see all the major areas of the city and got a good feel for what was where. There were 5 of us and we all agreed we couldn’t never have travelled that distance, especially given all the hills, in such a short amount of time. Our driver, Joao Correia, was great! Super informative and entertaining. I’d strongly recommend this tour with our particular driver.
