  • Had to take a detour but great alternative!

As the rains in February hit roads closed and washouts happened. Our guide pitched an alternative which we really enjoyed. We did Sintra National Palace and the Quinta de Regaleira. He also added in the furthest western point of continental Europe at the end!

  • Amazing place, not so great tour company service

Review of our tour guide Roma: She was nice although her knowledge of the history was not very good. My son would ask her questions relating to history of the place and sometimes her reply is "I don't know". We also took a private tour and paid over 850 Euros for a family of 5 adults. The car provided was not very big with a third row seating where 2 adults had to squeeze in. In one of the stops, we encountered a group of 3 adults, also on a private tour in a van - more spacious than what we were given considering we were 5 adults plus the tour guide = 6 adults. Review of the Place: The Pena Palace and Moorish Castle is amazing, with breathtaking views and lots of history. There's a lot of walking from the Moorish Castle to Pena Palace and the terrain is uphill, so be prepared. All told, for the amount we paid 850+ Euros, I would rate this tour with 3 stars only, not because of the place but because of the service. Consider joining another tour company that may give you better service or do it on your own and save all that money.

Giovana was lovely. She was very accommodating about our tour and suggested delaying it to slightly later so that we could have a better experience, given the inclement weather. Very knowledgeable and funny - would recommend

  • Moors and Pena prep for steps

    Joanne S,,Nov 10, 2025

Lots of climbing rocky and stone steps. Go in nice weather. Not too hot a day. Bring jacket for wind or cooler air on mountain. Moors castle moderate climb. Peña not as bad but both nice to see. If had to choose one, see Peña for history and beauty. Walk the garden if you can and ask to see the duck ponds. Slippery path at times. Clean restrooms were nice. This tour guide was full of historical info and a plant lover like me so the garden was a treat!
