White Meadows Farms
In our small corner of the world where the right trees and climate combine to make 100% Pure Maple Syrup, tours into the sugar bush are an annual winter tradition. However, we believe something this good and this rare deserves to be celebrated all year. Join our expert sugar-maker on a one-hour journey beneath the iconic maple leaves of the “off-season” sugar bush and discover the modern world of maple syrup production, the traditions that have survived the centuries, and the innovations that make today’s farms thrive. Witness how, in our three generations of sugar-making, we still craft our syrup 100% pure and simple, with no additives or sacrifice to the sap’s natural nutrients. Who are these expert sugar-makers? Our sugar-makers are the chief masters of all things maple on the Farm. Often very busy giving our tree herd its deserved TLC, they’re setting aside time to take you deep into the character and complexity of 100% Pure Maple Syrup. There’s never been a better chance to ask your toughest maple questions, like: Why is maple syrup production often compared to wine? What’s the science that causes maple syrup to get darker and stronger later in the season? How does the soil make Ontario maple syrup unique? Your Discover Maple Tour begins in our hub of maple syrup production, the Sugar Shack, and ventures by wagon to the heart of the maple factory, the forest. Here the masters unveil the world of maple syrup from sap collection to the health and wellness of the trees, as you venture along our groomed walking trail. Linger afterward in the shade of the mighty maples for a legendary sugar bush treat, “stick-to-your-lips” delicious, Taffy-on-Snow -- another winter tradition we can’t let you miss.

Please don’t visit Niagara Falls without taking this tour!! I cannot say enough good things about it. The distance from Niagara Falls to here is around 30 minutes. The drive is so nice and scenic, especially during the fall season. The farm is so cute! All staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The tour of the maple trees was awesome. It was so fun to learn about Canada’s maple production and everything that goes into the process. The sweetest part was the syrup tasting. Ooooooomg so good!!! My group selected the charcuterie option and it was the cherry on top. I believe if this option is sold out on Viator you can add it on when at the farm. Everything about this tour was tasty and fun. Don’t hesitate to book it.

The setting was surrounded by beautiful farmland and woods. The guide was engaging and informative during her presentation of how maple syrup is harvested and produced. A wooden cart pulled by a tractor took us into the woods for a close up look at the harvesting process and a special treat of pure maple candy. We felt the prices in the sweet shop were reasonable. We added the tasting board experience after the tour and highly recommend this. We were there a little over 3 hours including arriving at least 15 minutes before the tour, 2 hours for the tour, 1/2 hour for the tasting board and time for shopping. The farm is located less than a 30-minute drive from Niagara Falls. A must do experience in Ontario, Canada.

Stop in Pelham, with a guided tour of the White Meadows farm, a factory that produces maple syrup. Our guide is a 29-year-old boy, Luc, from Canada, who has worked in the family business for generations and when he talks about his work and the various stages of maple syrup production he is almost moved, so much shines through his passion for his work. The tour starts in a room where there is a burner and we are explained all the processing steps. Of course the tour is in English, but easily understandable. Then they let us into the tractor and Luc takes us into the maple forest: a natural and spontaneous forest. Here he explains all the steps of extracting the juice from the tree with minute detail. Even the children are very enraptured by the story. And finally he tells us, that in winter, it is customary, when it is cold and I am in the woods, to make candy called Maple taffy. Maple syrup is put in an iron bucket and boiled, when it is very thick it is poured on the snow and solidifies and eaten rolled on a stick. We went in August, but they managed to let us taste it anyway. They boiled the syrup and prepared a container with finely crushed ice (like snow) and poured this thick liquid over it. Then they gave each of us a wooden stick and made us try it!! And finally we chose to try a tasting with the processing with maple syrup both sweet and savory, and I must say they were really good! I really recommend this visit!!

A very interesting tour with a knowledgeable and very friendly tour guide. We highly recommend it – individual and not as mainstream as many other tours. We also got a great lunch recommendation from the lady at the shop – thank you very much!
