Fantastic tour with Marti. Excellent guide, historian, and storyteller. We were so happy to book this tour as we saw so much more than if we had explored Belfast on our own. Book any of his tours, he will not disappoint!

We had a very insightful, informative and entertaining experience. And being showed and told many things/places we would not have found out without him.

Although Marti had a ton of knowledge about the history or Belfast, he spent too much time talking about it before we even started our walking tour. But to his credit he spent longer than the time allotted with us. The later part of or tour was great. He definitely is a personable chap.

We thoroughly enjoyed Marti's eclectic tour of Belfast. Our coach tour of Ireland provided a lot of information;we wanted to hear more about the city and its history. So much of what we heard about Belfast was about conflict and violence. Marti provided excellent background on the history of Belfast and filled in many gaps; but, he also wants people to know that most residents, no matter their personal beliefs, simply want to live in peace. He showed us many hidden gems along the 2.5-hour walk. By the end, we felt like we really knew the city and had a greater appreciation for those who call Belfast home.

This bespoke Eclectic Tour was a great afternoon combining the history and culture of Belfast. Stopping off at the fabulous Sawers midway for some local delicacies was a lovely treat too. Marti was very knowledgeable and his passion for the city shone through! The Belfast Chamber team learned a lot more about Belfast through the years from all the fab facts and there were plenty of laughs along the Marti Way too!

Our tour with Marti was an evening well spent. His love and knowledge of Belfast was easily seen as he connected lots of information about its past present and future. He connected with us and where we were from and related some insights to our perspective. Marti knew the major landmarks and the ones tucked down a passage. He encouraged us to continue our interests in Belfast with recommendations for books and films. His attention to the teenager in our group was appreciated, talking about the music scene and wall art throughout the city. It was just the tour we needed and learned so much!

Going on a walking tour to introduce the visitor to a city they never been before is always a smart way to start visiting the place. The visitor has a chance to walk on different streets and observe the people, the architecture, the city being alive. They also have a good opportunity to learn from the tour guide some inside information about restaurants and places to visit, for example. Unfortunately, my experience with this specific walking tour was cut off short by the way it conducted by our tourist guide, Marti. At first, he seemed very energetic and passionate. However, as the time passed, he displayed irritation, rudeness, and impatience with me and my family. There was a moment that I seriously considered to leave the tour right after Marti said we were having a “communication problem.” From that moment on, I decided to ignore most of what he was saying and enjoyed the stroll throughout the city. I have no doubt that Marti has a lot of knowledge and experience as a tour guide. It shows by the way he interacted with a few people he came across in pubs and other public places. He took us to cool and nice places. After the tour, I talked to my family about the experience. We wondered if Marti still has the tolerance to deal with people who come from a different culture than his, sometimes tired from a long trip. With a tour guide having more emotional intelligence to deal with tourists, this tour has the potential to be an amazing introduction to Belfast.

I went on an eclectic walking tour with Marti throughout the city of Belfast, it is remarkable how much he can tell you about things even the locals wouldn’t know! I went on the tour as I brought along a friend who is new to Belfast, he enjoyed it a lot. I am Italian and have been in Belfast for 11 years and never noticed the very things Marti showed us, I was so surprised to discover more of Belfast! Thank you Marti!

The guide Marty was very knowledgeable, and had lots to say, but he was walking way too fast rushing ahead and telling his stories as he charged ahead. He didn't " read the room" that people were struggling to keep up and didn't hear him. I shut off before half way. 4 people dipped out and said they couldn't keep up the pace, at which point he should have said he'd slow down but just let them leave. Not customer friendly, even having a go about one lady taking a pic where we stopped next to a police station. Sorry, but could do much better.

I had originally wanted to book a different tour, but because it required a two-person minimum, I reached out to Marti via social media to see if I could join one he already had scheduled. He got back to me immediately, and I’m so glad I asked—this tour ended up being a far better experience than I expected. What sets Marti apart isn’t just his deep knowledge or clear love for this beautiful, complicated city—it’s the pace. I often find myself wanting to hit a 2x button on other walking tours, where the guide drags things out, speaks slowly, and visits as few sites as possible to fill the time. Not Marti. His tour was tight, efficient, and rich with local insight. We covered a lot of ground—physically and historically—and I came away feeling like I’d gotten two tours in one. If you’re looking for a casual stroll and slow surface-level storytelling, this probably isn’t the tour for you. But if you’re curious, sharp, and want to actually learn something while seeing the real city, book this. Then book another. I already did.
