What To Expect
Drake Bay
We will start the tour with a car ride up to the mountains... the car ride takes about 30 minutes, once we get to the starting point we will start a hike for about 1 hour which will take us to an amazing waterfall. We will be enjoying the waterfall for a few minutes and swiming around before we start floating down the river. After we will start getting ready to float down Rio Claro which will take about 1 hour from the top of the mountain all the way down to the beach. When finally get down to the beach we are going to take a walk along the coast for about 45 minutes. We will get picked up by a car which will take us to have lunch and we will finish the tour after that. This tour is very adventureous... you might get a bruise or two doing this tour.

5.00Highly recommended Tour, so nice! Carlos knows everything about the nature and the animals. The floating is so much fun and you can see birds and monkeys while you‘re floating down the river. If you have the chance to, you should definitely do this!

5.00I just finished this tour and it was absolutely incredible. Our guide, Carlos, made the experience unforgettable. He is extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and clearly loves what he does. His enthusiasm for the rainforest and its wildlife made the whole adventure even more special. The tour itself is stunning from start to finish. You walk through beautiful rainforest, swim under a waterfall, and then float peacefully down the river all the way to the ocean. It’s such a unique and magical way to experience nature — both relaxing and exciting at the same time. I can highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Drake Bay. It was truly one of the best experiences of my trip!

5.00I am a huge lover of river floats and this river float adventure was the BEST I’ve ever been on! This adventure has everything you’d want to see/expereince. Beautiful hikes through the jungle, river floating, a refreshing dip in a waterfall, a high dive into the river (optional), tons of viewing of animals (capuchins, spider monkeys, macaws, basilisks, whales (during season of course)), and a nice dip in the ocean at the end. And the trip was facilitated flawlessly by the amazing host, Carlos. He made sure that we got to see all the sights, is extremely knowledgeable of local flora and fauna, and is so kind. He made me and all my friends feel so safe and made sure we had the best day. And the cherry on top is the most delicious lunch you’ll ever have. Not booking this tour is a disservice to your trip. It’s a 10/10 experience

5.00We had an amazing tour with Carlos. He is a very knowledgeable and super kind person, who loves to share his passion for the land. The tour itself was the best tour we have done on our entire trip. It started with a hike through stunning primary forest to a waterfall, where there was the opportunity to go for a refreshing swim in the swimming hole at the bottom of the falls. After another small hike, we entered Rio Claro to float down the river for about an hour. Carlos knows the river very well and doesn’t take any risks. At the same time the tracks were more adventurous than the well laid out paths we had been on so far. We felt safe and looked after by Carlos for the entire trip. This tour requires a average level of fitness. It has a great variation in activities and it felt magical floating on a beautiful river which passes through a primary jungle. At the end is a beautiful beach track and a lovely lunch to end it all.

5.00Carlos is an amazing guide and, more importantly, a wonderful human being. He was warm and friendly from the beginning. He is of the land, loves the land, and thus has an intimate knowledge of the jungle and the waterways that can't be taught simply from books. The landscape of the tour was breathtaking. Highly recommend this tour with Carlos!

5.00I did the Rio Claro floating river tour with Carlos in June 2025 and it was unforgettable! First of all, Carlos kindly went ahead with the tour despite the other person in the group cancelling last minute. Then we hiked through the rainforest and he shared lots of interesting facts about local animal and plants species. There was an opportunity to swim under a natural waterfall and eat some snacks (oranges and cookies). The float down the Rio Claro was amazing and so much fun! For this you must have a fully waterproof bag as you are in the water for over an hour. Shorts and a t-shirt are fine, and it is advisable to wear socks with hiking sandals (my Tevas were fine). The currents can slam you into the rocks from time-to-time, so be prepared to pick up a few bumps and bruises on the way. After this there was another hike along the beach, with opportunities to see lots of animals, before stopping for food and driving back. Thank you again Carlos!
