The Corcovado Activity is 100% about adventure, connecting with nature and enjoying a unique jungle. The tour is unique, you walk between 18 to 20 km, observing different environments, primary and secondary forests, get to swim in the river and waterfall.

Our speciality is looking for non-traditional trails, going out of our comfort zone and getting into the wildest part of Corcovado.

Starting 6 am coming back around 3 or 4 Pm.

What To Expect

The tour starts at 6 am and we pick you up in a 4×4 at our office (if your hotel is not nearby, check with us for more information regarding the pick up). After a 40 minute drive, we arrive at Los Planes station where the adventure begins. This hike of approximately 18-20km is characterized by visiting wild and purest areas of Corcovado, where it is possible to enjoy nature without the human bustle. During the journey we will see an impressive waterfall, we will cross rivers where we can cool off and swim. The trails that we will walk are crossing through an ancient forest of more than 4000 years old. You will walk along irregular trails, with ups and downs and you will find obstacles to cross such as streams, fallen trees.... You will have lunch in the middle of the jungle and the tour will end around 3-4 pm. If you really want to feel nature at its best, we recommend this option. Keep in mind your physical condition. Remember that, even though you are surrounded by wildlife in the jungle, the main focus of this tour is not the animals, but to get to know the jungle and feel the nature. This is the best tour for hiking and adventure lovers!

My best days in Costa Rica were definitely spent in Drake Bay in the middle of jungle. I absolutely loved exploring the San Pedrillo jungle and animals of Sirena. Sharing it with someone passionate like Yen was just an amazing plus. Very well organized, so chilled and interesting. Really enjoyed this authentic experience.

Yen is an amazing guide with a great sense of humor and passion for showing around Corcovado. We got to see a lot of wildlife. I only wish of the tour was longer and explored a little deeper. Nevertheless, it's an amazing experience to visit a forest and explore. It was very safe with Yen and he took good care.

Me and my partner had a great time on this tour! Our tour guide, Yen, was so friendly and knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. On top of that, he made sure to check in with everyone in his group (8 of us, which is a larger group for them) regularly to make sure that we were doing alright. He also kept a steady pace throughout the hike, so while it was definitely difficult at times, as long as you’re reasonably fit you shouldn’t have too much trouble sticking with your group. Most of the hike was in the shade so that helped in keeping the difficulty manageable. Along with that there were three longer breaks spaced out during the hike. First was visiting Alfredo’s house, a man that’s been living in the jungle for the last 40 years. Second was eating the prepared lunch (which was delicious and sat nicely in our stomachs during the rest of the physical activity of the hike). And last was stopping at the waterfall near the end of the hike for a swim. Things to prepare for if you plan to take this tour: - a good portion of the trail was muddy so don’t wear anything you care about getting dirty - they recommend you bring 2-3 liters of water (two was the right amount for me as a relatively small woman). Single use plastic is allowed but it would probably be more convenient to bring a larger reusable bottle - there are some water crossings so it’s a good idea to bring some sort of water shoe for those since they’re pretty rocky - if you plan to swim in the waterfall near the end of the hike, there is no real private area to change into or out of your swimsuit. Though you can kind of step to the side if you’d like. If that’s an issue, you should wear a swimsuit that you’re comfortable walking a lot in Also while they say that you shouldn’t expect to see animals on this tour due to how thick the primary jungle is, our group saw a couple groups of monkeys, some lizards, and some fun bugs! Overall it was a great experience and I would do it again!

Do yourself a favor and book a tour or two or three with this agency! We had the best two days exploring the Corcovado national park. Instead of going for an overnight tour we chose to do two different full day tours, and I do not regret this decision. In my opinion this gives you an even better experience of the park, being able to see the full diversity it has to offer. Our first day was with guide Aldo, he has so much knowledge and wisdom about all the beautiful nature. We went on a “full day adventure”, 20km hike through Los Planes. It is beautiful. Yes, it’s a bit challenging, and I do recommend good footwear as it’s a very slippery hike, but it’s definitely do’able, even if you are not an active hiker. Being able to be in nature, a primary rainforest, without any other people, is a magical feeling. Our second day was with Daniel. We went on a “full day Sirena & San Pedrillo” tour with him. He also is like a walking encyclopedia full of knowledge. We got to see many wildlife and overall a fantastic day. Obviously the nature is the star of the show, but choosing Top Trails has been a good choice :) thank you and we hope to be back one day!

This was an incredible and challenging full day experience. We spent about 10hours hiking through the most beautiful primary forest I’ve ever experienced. After about 1.5 hours we arrived at the house of a man named in Alfredo who has lived in the jungle for 40 years where we had coffee and got to see his incredible collection of music posters. We continued for another couple of hours and took a break to have a good lunch. While this hike isn’t designed for animal sightings I was still really pleasantly surprised because we encountered a family of white-lipped peccaries which are not an animal you’d typically see in the more animal-rich Sirena station. There’s also a chance we encountered a Harpy eagle which is believed to be extirpated from Costa Rica although not everyone saw it and we can’t confirm if it actually was one but still absolutely incredible nonetheless. We also saw many different bird species, monkeys and spiders. If you and your group try to be quiet you may even see more because the animals in this part of the park are not accustomed to humans and will hide. Our guide Yen confident led us through the jungle and made us feel very safe while also pointing out as much wildlife and interesting parts of the jungle as he could find. We ended the hike with a rewarding swim in a waterfall pool which was much needed. Overall I’d highly recommend this hike to those who are looking for an adventure and want to be immersed in pristine nature. Great for solo travellers, couples, friends, but maybe a bit too challenging for small children. Don’t expect a lot of animals but you may still be surprised. Wear good boots, I’d recommend rubber as the mud is very deep in some parts. And pack light.

It's a hike where you immerse yourself in nature. You won’t see many animals but you will be able to live what it’s like to get into the nature that is the experience I was looking for in Costa Rica. Yen was a 10.
