This was a stunningly beautiful experience, kind, knowledgeable, and keen facilitators. Cannot overstate how welcoming and inspiring they were for this amazing chance to craft with Japanese inspiration.

  • Enjoyable but a wee bit light on content

Enjoyable. In a neat area of Tokyo. Some improvements (imo) should be to give a history about Japanese knives and / or discuss the type of knives in Japan. Also share an overview of the entire process first to feel less connected. Another suggestion is to not add an up charge to the class if the customer decides they want to do a single blade, because it actually didn’t take any longer than the double. But these are picky things- the staff is lovely and it’s a unique experience.

Lisa was an amazing host! Knowledgeable, friendly and very talented. It was a small group but she is fluent in English and made it very memorable. You get to personalize the handle by burning in your name or a phrase. I loved the finished product I got to take home. A great experience.

One of my favorite experiences in Tokyo! Our two guides were so energetic and enthusiastic, and learning how to use a whetstone was super cool! Getting to leave with a knife you personally sharpened makes for a really unique souvenir. If you’re on the fence, I can’t recommend this enough.
