According to the inscription on the mihrab of the mosque, it was converted from a church to a mosque in 1956.
Castle of Urfa
It is believed that Urfa Castle was built on a Neolithic settlement area dating back to 10,000 BC. The first written records about the Castle is from the 11th century. It is believed to be built in the Assyrian period between 812-814 AD. Gobeklitepe
We will see Gobeklitepe, a hilltop sanctuary erected on the highest point of an elongated mountain ridge some 15 km northeast of the town of Urfa. Pools of Holy CarpWhat makes Gobeklitepe unique in its class is the date it was built, which is roughly twelve thousand years ago, circa 10,000 BC.
Karahantepe Orenyeri
Karahan Tepe is an archaeological site in Şanlıurfa Province in Turkey. The site is close to Göbekli Tepe and archaeologists have also uncovered T-shaped stelae there. The excavations have uncovered 250 obelisks featuring animal figures. The site is located near Yağmurlu and roughly 46 kilometers east of Göbekli Tepe, which is often called its sister site. It is part of the Göbeklitepe Culture and Karahantepe Excavations project. The area is known as “Keçilitepe” by local people. It is part of a region of similar sites now being uncovered known as the Taş Tepeler.
Harran
we will visit nearby Harran and see the incredible beehive houses. Harran- according to the Bible- was the site where prophet Abraham spent a few years with his family before moving on to Israel, the Promised Land. There are exceptional photo opportunities in this area. After Harran we will drive to the airport to fly back to Istanbul.
Bazda Caves are located at the 15th km of the Harran-Han el-Ba'rur road. There are historical stone quarries on both sides of the road since the beginning of the year. Bazda caves are on the right of the road at 19 km. It is the most important and most beautiful stone quarry in the region. Large cavities were formed on the exterior of the mountain, which spread over a very large area, due to stone cutting. From the Arabic inscriptions written on the rocks, it is understood that this quarry was operated in the 13th century by individuals such as "Abdurrahman al-Hakkari", "Muhammet Ibn-i Bakir", "Muhammed al-'Uzzar". As a result of hundreds of years of stone removal for the surrounding Harran, Shuayp city and Han el-Ba'rur structures, many squares, tunnels and galleries were formed in both caves. Especially the larger one was carved in places with two floors, and squares were created in the middle by leaving feet up to 10-15 meters high.

This tour far exceeded my expectations! Our tour guide, Ibrahim, had an intimate knowledge of the Sanliurfa, and his deep expertise in the sites of Gobeklitepe and Harran really made the experience interesting and meaningful. He was well-versed on the current excavations at the sites and had a deep interest in helping us understand their archaeological features as well as the aspects of the sites that have yet to be explained by scientific inquiry. Ibrahim guided us through the museum to further explain the artifacts that had been excavated from the sites. I learned so much from his explanations. Ibrahim took pride in showing us the town he grew up in and was a true pleasure to have as our local guide. Highly recommended!

Ibrahim was amazing. His knowledge of the ancient places we went to was wonderful and taught me so many things. He was kind and accepted us on this tour last minute to join with a group of other people. He created a very inclusive and fun atmosphere including taking selfies with the group. His price per person was very reasonable compared to other tours that were available. We toured multiple places over 2 days including Gobekletepe, karhantepe, Harran, Bazda Caves, Fish Lake, beehive houses, Sanliurfa Archeology Museum and Mosaic Museum, and more! The places he took us for lunch both days were delicious and clean. I would absolutely book with Ibrahim again!!!!

Göbeklitepe has always been a bucket list item for my partner and I. This year we decided to do it! I wanted a guide to provide more insight and guidance exploring on this trip. I was lucky enough to come across an archaeology PhD student (among other degrees such as economics). Ibrahim Toprak ([email protected]) was amazing from start to finish. We were able to join a 2-day small group tour at a very reasonable price. Ibrahim grew up in Şanlıurfa so he knows everywhere to go, eat, and make your trip most memorable! He has considerable knowledge of the 12,000 year-old pre-pottery Neolithic period, as well as many others, and how to tie them together across time. His English skills are great, and so is his personality! He also loves taking your picture and jumping in for some selfies! You will not regret contacting him for a tour.

Ibrahim was an amazing guide. He was very knowledgeable about Gobekli Tepe and Sanliurfa. He checked on our accommodations to ensure the rooms we would be staying in were in good condition for our stay. He accommodated our requests to mediate at various sites. He made the trip extra special. I would highly recommend Ibrahim.

We had great fun, we asked many questions which were properly answered with an explanation.
