Very friendly bike store. We hired on spec and Lisa was very friendly with the ever positive New Zealand can do attitude. Highly recommended. We did the great taste trail to Mapua and back in 4 hours and a bit. We didnt go across the ferry as it only operates every hour. Lisa suggested that we have lunch at the Siefried Winery which was perfect. We had the seafood chowder it was also perfect. With just an hour and 10 minutes to get back we went down the A6 with the wind behind us and rejoined the GTT at Richmond. With the 30 minutes at the winery this was tight. If you have the opportunity undertake the trip with the tide in it will be a lot prettier. Also you will need a full day ion you want to stop off the places and especially if you want to go over across the estuary and have limited cycling experience.

Good quality bikes available. Nice flat route to Rabbit Island. A bit of cycling by the side of the highway but mainly by the coast on gravel or boardwalks. Recommended

I enjoyed the opportunity to have a terrific guided ride with one of the owners, who made the Ebike ride a gentle trek against the occasional strong breeze.

Actually did the paddle and pedal combo! Best $70 dollars ive ever spent! What a great day out and fantastic way to explore Nelson and surrounds. Excellenf service from both companies. Started the day by collecting the bike and heading down the road for a wee paddle at 9:00am. Then had bike hire available until 5pm, allowing a great day of riding! Recommend checking out rabbit island and doing a city tour via alt route on way back

Everything worked seamlessly: online registration was easy, the bikes were ready for us when we arrived, the staff did an excellent job of prepping us, the equipment worked great and the ride instructions were spot on. Well done! Jim

Our experience with The Gentle Cycling Company's Spooners Tunnel self-guided tour was exceptional, thanks to Chris and Bernie. They provided us with excellent bikes and clear route instructions, making the journey through New Zealand's longest disused railway tunnel truly unforgettable. Chris’s local knowledge on the shuttle up there was very informative, ensuring we knew where to stop for pies and scones. For anyone visiting Nelson, I highly recommend this tour with The Gentle Cycling Company—it's a perfect way to explore the Nelson area at your own pace.

We found this bicycle tour to be extraordinary. Bernie, Chris and Bridget were very helpful. They gave us great flexibility on picking up the bikes and also dropping them off a bit late. We found that the bikes were in great shape. We bite for two days and enjoyed the coastal route to rabbit Island to be very much fun. However, the trip to Spooner tunnel was extraordinary. We were climbing a hill. We were very glad to be using E bikes for this trip I would highly recommend you use gentle cycling company for your experience in the Nelson area. There’s no better way to see this part of New Zealand then on a bike. We were in New Zealand for two weeks. We found this to be our best adventure.

Was as good as I hoped. Bike was a bit heavier than I’m used to but did the job. Staff very helpful and cheerful. I made an error in my booking but they moved the date no problem

A great day out! We talked to Bernie about the ride before booking and she was really helpful explaining the type of bikes and terrain. Spent a bit more time next to busy roads than we'd have liked, but overall a great experience. The bikes were well maintained and good quality Bernie and her team were great.
