Mezes (mezedes for plural) is a small plate of hot or cold dish, served alongside other mezedes. Mezedes have a dual purpose. First to complement the drink (and by drink we mean Greek spirits like ouzo, raki etc) and then to provide a reason for social gathering. Once we’ve all gotten to know each other, we will talk about the menu and the recipes we are going to cook. You will learn how to cook a 6+ Greek meze dinner using the best local ingredients and following traditional family recipes which we will all devour afterwards while talking, laughing and drinking good Greek wine. To ensure all class participants learn the most important parts of the given menu, certain key techniques (such as making dough for pies from scratch) will be executed by all class participants. By the end of the class our guests will be able to recreate the full menu when they get back home. Other things to note - Please inform for any food allergies or dislikes upon booking. - All classes can be vegetarian or vegan upon request - Private classes are available upon request as well as classes at desired days/time. - We can cancel bookings in case the minimum number of participants (4) is not reached

The relaxed and fun atmosphere of the class, The cooking class was an incredible experience and I recommend it to everyone who wants to learn how to cook or improve their cooking skills. Don't hesitate to sign up! I would like to add that the instructor chef was very attentive and made sure that me and my husband felt comfortable and safe in the kitchen.

This class was fantastic. The hosts were warm and funny. We made 7 dishes, from grape leaves to baklava. The whole day was fun and we learned a lot, then we got to feast on our creations. Bring your appetite, it’s a lot of food!

This class was amazing!! It was completely hands on and Marilena and Artemis were so patient and accommodating with our entire family. We even had a baby with us and they were so happy to have her join in on the experience. The food turned out delicious. Most dishes fresher and better than any of the Greek restaurants we ate at. You don’t want to miss this!

Great cooking experience, very professional and well organised. The kitchen was spacious and air conditioned. The instructor could speak good English, as could her assistants, and they were very inclusive in getting people involved. The food was delicious, all several dishes prepared, cooked and eaten within the allocated 2hour class timeframe. Excess food was returned to us for later and the recipes were shared by email. Overall we loved our class and so glad we did it, and believe the food is easily reproducible at home. We highly recommend this experience.

This is a must do!! The food was honestly the best we had in Athens and the experience was unforgettable. Marilena and her team made the experience light hearted and fun, but also informative! You do not have to be an amazing cook to have fun in this class. It’s a great way to experience Greece in the air conditioning and you get to keep all of the amazing recipes to recreate at home! We highly recommend!!

We had the most fantastic experience with Cooking Athens, one of the absolute highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome. The host was friendly, knowledgeable and brought such energy to the class. The atmosphere was relaxed, fun and social, with clear instructions and plenty of encouragement along the way. The ingredients were top quality and everything we made was packed with flavour. We learnt traditional techniques and useful tips we can now use at home. The whole experience was hands-on but never rushed, with time to enjoy the cooking and chat with the group. Sitting down together to eat the meal we’d prepared (with delicious local wine) was such a brilliant way to end the evening. The food was outstanding and the company even better. If you’re visiting Athens, don’t miss this experience. Whether you’re a foodie or just curious about Greek cooking, you’ll come away with great memories, new skills and a very full stomach. Highly, highly recommend.

We had such fun making and eating all the dishes, especially cheese pie and baklava with filo pastry sheets. The place was clean, well equipped, friendly and professional staff. Thank you!

Fun class learning how to make various mezes. Recipes are a starting point. Knowing HOW things should taste is the goal.
