What To Expect
Temple of Demeter
History comes alive at the ancient temple of Demetra, in Sagri Village, dated 530 BC, and dedicated to the goddess of agriculture. Built on the edge of a fertile Naxian valley, as the first Greek temple constructed entirely of marble (its roof as well), it’s of even greater historical importance. Please note : On Tuesdays the temple is closed.A visit to a traditional pottery workshop will be added instead

Chalki Village, where after a pleasant stroll, visit the hundred-year-old family owned distillery, which still produces Naxos’ well-known Kitron liqueur.

5.00Lovely 1/2 day tour of this beautiful mountaineous island! Tour guide Spiros was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and we had interesting stops along the way in the quaint villages , olive oil production shop & local liquor distillery Recommend doing it in the morning as my tour was at 2 it did get quite hot in the afternoon.
Waste of Time. Hard pass.

1.00We thought we booked a private half day tour with a local guide. It seems that we had just booked a local driver. He provided little-to-no guidance of any sort. In fact, he did not even join us for any of the sites (Temple of Demeter, ceramic shop, olive oil tasting) with the exception of the local liqueur tasting. This was not worth the premium price tag for a private local guide. We would have had a similar but much less expensive experience with a taxi driver. Definitely skip this tour.

The guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the island, sharing not only history and culture but also great local stories that brought everything to life. The itinerary was well-paced, allowing us to see beautiful villages, stunning landscapes, and important landmarks without ever feeling rushed. I really appreciated the personal touches—like recommendations for local food and hidden gems—that made the experience feel unique and authentic. Transportation was comfortable, communication was clear, and everything was very well organized. I left the tour with a much deeper appreciation of Naxos and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the island.
