Tirta Gangga

Tirta Gangga is a former royal palace in eastern Bali, Indonesia, about 5 kilometres from Karangasem, near Abang. Named after the sacred river Ganges in Hinduism, it is noted for the Karangasem royal water palace, bathing pools, a Patirthan temple, its cultural and religious significance. Tirta Gangga literally means water from the Ganges and it is a site of some reverence for the Hindu Balinese. Strictly, the name refers to the water palace built in 1948 by the Raja of Karangasem, Anak Agung Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. It is, however, the name widely used to refer to the general area which includes the water palace and the lush rural areas around. Tirta Gangga water palace is a maze of pools and fountains surrounded by a lush garden and stone carvings and statues. The one hectare complex was built in 1946 by the late King of Karangsem but was destroyed almost entirely by the eruption of nearby Mount Agung in 1963. It has been lovingly re-built and restored and has an air of authentic royal magnificence. The centerpiece of the palace is an eleven tiered fountain and there are many beautiful carvings and statues adorning the gardens. The area around Tirta Gangga is noted for its rice paddy terraces.

Hands down the best experience of the holiday. Wian is polite, caring, super-positive and very knowledgeable. We had an amazing day including pick up and drop off at our hotel(which was 2.5 hours away). If you looking to do any tours or even have customized made for you, please look no further than Wian.

It was my first trip to Bali this October. I spent a week with a group of amazing people for a retreat and stayed one more week on my own for a solo travel. My Bali experienced friends from the retreat recommended me Wayan Amansuka to explore the island, and I’m so grateful for this recommendation! We did a tour to Lempuyang temple, snorkling on the beach and the waterfalls. Wayan knows the best spots for pictures, advices on the best timing and helped to fill out the itinerary with fun activities on the way. He was always on time and didn’t get mad when I was late all the time :) But the most important is Wayan truly becomes your friend, not just a tour guy. He shares his wisdom, culture and helps you see the island in a very special way. And you know, probably not every friend of mine would follow me in a cold waterfall water to get a cool picture of me... but Wayan did!! He takes amazing pictures! Suka is very friendly and flexible in case you would like to choose itinerary. He is an outstanding accredited guide, who has a lot of interesting information to tell on a large variety of places to visit in Bali (thanks to his yearlong experience). Due to his accreditation, he can show you around in temples and other historic buildings. He is very service-minded as well and will offer you water and fresh towel, which is feels so relaxing after climbing long staircases. His car has AC and is comfortable. For all of these reasons (non-exhaustive :)), I would like to strongly recommend Amansuka tours to you. One thing is certain: you will not be disappointed!
