Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque
It is a mosque and former church serving as a major cultural and historical site in Istanbul, Turkey. The last of three church buildings to be successively erected on the site by the Eastern Roman Empire, it was completed in 537 CE. The site was a Greek Orthodox church from 360 CE to 1453, except for a brief time as a Latin Catholic church between the Fourth Crusade and 1261. After the fall of Constantinople in 1453, it served as a mosque until 1935, when it became a museum. In 2020, the site once again became a mosque.

It was constructed between 1609 and 1617 during the rule of Ahmed I and remains a functioning mosque today. I did this tour with Alp and I truly enjoyed it, not only was he really nice, he knew a lot, made me feel like I was hanging out with a friend that was showing me their hometown. He knew places I would have not been able to find in my super quick trip. This is 100% the best tour guide in Istanbul.

Emrullah gave us an absolutely fantastic experience showing us some of his favourite places to visit in Istanbul. His descriptions, explanations and linking of history at each site was fantastic and gave us a greater understanding of the complexities that exist in Istanbul. He managed to include many light hearted moments in his conversations with us whilst also allowing us to sit and take in the real beauty of the mosques visited. Emrullah is a great guide.

We went on a walking tour with Emrullah around the old town. To say it was informative, well thought out and well run is an understatement. His historical, political and religious insights brought Istanbul's history to life- and what a history it is!! I can thoroughly recommend him.

Istanbul had long been a city I wanted to explore, and I couldn't have asked for a better guide than Emrullah. The tour was well paced, well organized, and most importantly, informative. What makes Emrullah shine as your tour guide is his vast depth of knowledge, providing so much more insight than I could have ever learned from my travel books. His expertise alone made this tour the favourite part of my entire vacation! Don't hesitate, do this tour, I'd highly recommended it.

We got a tour through the old town and he showed us some not so touristy places. We also got to try some food and snacks of how the locals eat it and where they eat it. It was very interesting as he told us the history and various background stories of places we paces by. We were very lucky to find him in our first visit to Istanbul. I can highly recommend a tour with this guide.

Turkey has always been on my bucket list, and I finally travelled there in September 2025 with Mr Cansu, and it truly exceeded my expectations. We explored many incredible cities and learned so much about Turkish food, culture, and its rich Muslim heritage, and the entire trip was perfectly guided and deeply informative. Cansu makes every moment meaningful with his knowledge and passion for history and culture. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Turkey, you will be in excellent hands!
