Discover Cambodian’s traditional life on TonLe Sap lake by visiting the Kompong Phluk floating village. Kompong Phluk is a permanent community that has based its economy on fishing and is surrounded by flooded forest. During the dry season, you will be able to sight stilt houses rising up to 8 meters in the air while in the wet season, the water rises to within one meter of the edifices.

What To Expect
Kompong Phluk
Visit TonLe Sap lake (the biggest fresh water lake in South-east Asia) which will give you a fascinating insight of the true Cambodian life. Pick-up from your hotel (please make sure you provide your hotel information at time of booking). Drive may take around 1 hour from Siem Reap to the boat’s pier. You will be invited to ride on a private boat leading to floating village (traditional Khmer floating Village located 30km from Siem Reap). Discover the tall stilted houses, floating hospital, fishery, old lifestyle of the country and the natural landscape of the flooded Mangroves forest. You will be offered to go for a 15 minutes tour through the flooded Mangroves forest on a small boat (is it not included in the price but it only cost 5 USD) which is a great break on your way to TonLe Sap where you will be able to experience local fauna and flora. While your boat will finish its ride on a larger view on the TonLe Sap, you will end your day tour admiring the sunset over the lake.

5.00The Kampong Phluk Floating Village tour is a must see experience. The tour itself was a unique experience to see the heart of the Cambodian people and their lifestyle. The stilted houses and restaurants were incredibly interesting to see. It was incredible to envision what the space would look like during the rainy season. The boat ride through the flooded mangroves was beautiful and serene. Our guide made trip even more exciting as he was knowledgeable, engaging and had a great sense of humor. We liked that not only did he share history and inform of the culture if the village, but also shared a bit of himself...as he spoke about his grandfather. Overall I highly recommend this tour and our guide Jack!

5.00We visited the floating villages with Meng & driver James Bond. As it was dry season we were able to walk through the village which enabled us to have a fascinating I sight I to the lives of the people that live in the village. We then headed out into the lake to go to a floating restaurant where you were able to buy drinks & watch the sunset. Excellent tour & Meng was able to give us lots of info all through the trip. He has an amazing ability to remember everyone's name on the trip. (18)

5.00We had a lovely time visiting the floating village with our guide Mang and his driver Mr Playboy (who has too many girlfriends). We got to see a very special part of Cambodia including an intimate look at how the people in the village live. The sunset lake cruise was wonderful and we’d like to thank Mang for making a short trip to Siem Reap into something truly special we will never forget.
