Discover Cambodian’s traditional life on TonLe Sap lake by visiting the Kompong Phluk floating village. Kompong Phluk is a permanent community that has based its economy on fishing and is surrounded by flooded forest. During the dry season, you will be able to sight stilt houses rising up to 8 meters in the air while in the wet season, the water rises to within one meter of the edifices.

Embark with this private small group tours (maximum 12 persons) which will allow you to share not only your sightseeing experience but also sharing travel cost when visiting Kompong Phluk village.

This half-day tour will allow you to discover one of the most interesting floating villages that lie on the TonLe Sap lake. Have a high regard for people’s living while you will end your tour admiring the sunset over this gigantic lake.

What To Expect

Kompong Phluk

Visit TonLe Sap lake (the biggest fresh water lake in South-east Asia) which will give you a fascinating insight of the true Cambodian life. Pick-up from your hotel (please make sure you provide your hotel information at time of booking). Drive may take around 1 hour from Siem Reap to the boat’s pier. You will be invited to ride on a private boat leading to floating village (traditional Khmer floating Village located 30km from Siem Reap). Discover the tall stilted houses, floating hospital, fishery, old lifestyle of the country and the natural landscape of the flooded Mangroves forest. You will be offered to go for a 15 minutes tour through the flooded Mangroves forest on a small boat (is it not included in the price but it only cost 5 USD) which is a great break on your way to TonLe Sap where you will be able to experience local fauna and flora. While your boat will finish its ride on a larger view on the TonLe Sap, you will end your day tour admiring the sunset over the lake.

Kampong Phluk floating village tour with Happy Tear and driver Playboy was the best. So much personal insight about the way of life of the floating village people was excellent. Also, it was humorous. Sunset on lake was marvellous.

Did a sunset tour to Tonlé Sap and the floating villages with Happy Tear as our guide. Had an amazing time, Happy Tear was so positive and cheerful, he had so much knowledge and was telling us a lot about the lives of people in the floating communities. We even had an optional opportunity to get a small boat around the mangrove forest which was a particular highlight of mine. The tour was extremely well organised and plenty of water was provided by Mr John. Would highly recommend!!

Booked this half day tour of the floating village through Onederz Hostel. We saw the village by boat and land, road a canoe through the mangrove forest, and watched the sunset from the lake. Our guide, Paul, was excellent! Friendly, knowledgeable, and even sang a song for us on the boat. Highly recommend.
