On the way to the reservoir, our local guide, Emiliano, shared information with us about Guanajuato and the surrounding area. The fact he spoke English well was a plus. We enjoyed our kayak trip to the temple, especially the many species of birds we saw along the way. The water provides habitat for ducks, pelicans, snowy and great egrets, stilts, and even a great blue heron. If you're a birder bring your binoculars.
