We did the earlier tour. That day we got an email pushing it back 30 minutes. The biking out was nice. The woman does a lot of yelling and you’re never sure who she’s yelling at. Pedal faster but stay in line! Bioluminescence was ok. Cool to experience but wouldn’t do again. It’s nothing like the pictures. More like a dull sparkler that you make yourself in the water. In order to see the bioluminescence, you do need to get wet.

I almost skipped visiting the bioluminescent bay because I had read that Winter is not the best time to see the bioluminescence. I am SO glad that I decided to give it a try! Going out into the bay on the Chiliboats was incredibly fun in itself. The boats are easy to pedal and steer, and it was such a unique way to experience being out on the water! Our guides knew the area extremely well, and guided us to the perfect spot. Once we arrived, we sat on the inflatable pontoon parts of the Chiliboats and dangled our feet into the water. We could reach right down and swirl the water with our hands, and the water sparkled as we moved. In the Summer, the bioluminescence is brighter, but in the Winter, we could see the individual creatures glow, like the water was full of tiny stars. It was more subtle, but still absolutely beautiful! Our guides were wonderful. Try this! You won’t be disappointed.

It was very unique experience. Similar to seeing an aurora for the first time. The organizers were very competent. I really appreciated that they were committed to preserving the habitat as well.

This was a very good experience. It was the second bioluminescent experience I have been on, one was clear kayaks, and neither lived up to the pictures in the ads. However, we saw more on this one than the other. The boats were cool and on a night of a total new moon, I would go on this one again. The guides were more knowledgeable and the experience of riding out on the water following the small glow sticks on the other adventurers was unique. We did see some creatures. The guides explained why we only saw a few and why they were not very bright due to the sky conditions.

Such a fun experience! The water bikes were surprisingly easy to ride (not too strenuous), having that experience alone was really amazing! Mariemma and her team were extremely knowledgeable, prioritized safety, find the best spot for bioluminescence, and implement actions to preserve the bioluminescent bay. It was the best part of our trip! Thank you Mariemma and team!

Had a great time! Our guides were very knowledgeable and let us experience this to the fullest. We went out before the full moon and we still got to see the glowing effect. The stars were beautiful as well.

The meeting point is at the end of a street by the water. Wear shorts or pants you don’t care to get wet. Make sure to stretch and take pain medication if you have pain in your legs you will be pedaling a lot.
