The Palace of Knossos
The Minoan Palace at Knossos is arguably the most instructive Neolithic and Bronze-Age site in the Aegean/ Eastern Mediterranean (7000-1000 BC). The reconstructed remains give you a chance to experience the labyrinthine architecture of the Minoans as no other site can, and provide a wonderful backdrop to many vignettes to help appreciate the Minoan culture. What went on in a Palace? Were their ladies the mainstay of their society? What sort of health did they enjoy? How did they organize the production of their sort-after textiles? What names were their oxen called? A myriad aspects – great and small – can be thus explored: enough to satisfy anyone’s curiosity. And yet .. we still cannot answer: what made them click? Come and see what you think: take a tour round this grand and enigmatic structure.
(up to 8 pax): See the Palace of Knossos more intimately with this semi-private walking tour that’s capped at just 8 people.
(up to 16 pax): Explore the palace without the rush and bustle of the larger sightseeing tours.

Definitely worth having a tour guide at this sight. Our guide was wonderful - super knowledgeable about every part of the ruins. It was crowded so having skip the line tickets was great.

Everything was super well communicated, easy to find, and well coordinated for our family of 7. In addition, our guide was very knowledgeable, gave us a ton of backstory and history on the ruins, and was also mindful to help us avoid the main pack of people while keeping us in the shade. If you are into history and want to learn more about Knossos, ancient civilization, and the overall area of Crete, Greece, and the Mediterranean then I’d highly recommend!

It was a wonderful tour. We learned so much. Katerina, our guide, was very knowledgeable and personable. Though somewhat crowded, she managed to effectively navigate the ruins while delightfully weaving the story of Minoan civilization in Crete.

Absolutely amazing tour by Akrivi!! She was so knowledgeable about not just the details about the ruins but also related mythology and how contemporary theories regarding the palace weave together with historical ones. If she hosts a lecture series on this topic I would love to learn more!! So exciting!!

Our guide was excellent. She was an Archaeologist, an excavator and a tour guide. She showed images of the past and told us where to see the original artworks. I was so impressed with the brave Minoan women.
