Cooking with Marti was one of the highlights of my visit to Budapest. Starting with meeting her at the Central Market where she walked us through to teach us about the foods of Hungary. As a professional chef she demonstrates just how extremely knowledgeable she is about the foods of her country.. She explains the history of how meats, fish, spices, fruits, vegetables and wines/liquors are prepared and enjoyed in Hungary. Afterwards we were brought to her kitchen where we helped to prepare a traditional Hungarian meal and enjoy local wines. All of which were fabulous!!! If you have an evening free during your visit this is a MUST!!

We were in Europe for 2 weeks and visiting the Budapest grand market and cooking with Marti was the highlight of our trip! I would give our experiences with Marti a 10 out of 5 if I could - it was that great! I say experiences because the day before, on the last day of our Tauck Danube River Cruise we serendipitously made Langos with her as part of our tour. The next day we made Chicken Paprika, a Farmers’ Plate, and drank local wine in her home kitchen after touring the market with her. Marti is very personable and shared parts of her and her family’s personal journey through the transition from Russian occupation to present day Hungary - since we were curious. We wish we had more time to stay in Budapest because there are more cooking lessons in addition to the Chicken Paprika that she provides. Btw, the chicken dish was AMAZING and if you do the cooking class, she shares her secrets and provides recipes.

Marti was great! She took us on a quick tour of the market then we cabbed to her kitchen for a fabulous cooking class. She is very knowledgeable and a great teacher for all levels of cooking experience. We would defintely take the class again.

Marti was lovely, experienced and an excellent teacher. In addition to learning how to cook Hungarian food -- which she made very doable -- she shared a lot with us about her life and her country. A highlight of our 5 days in Budapest.

Wonderful experience touring the market, followed by a good time cooking and making new friends. I have a hard time making Hot Pockets, but Marti made me a real chef for a day! She's a lovely person, a Budapest native who'll tell you everything you ever wanted to know about Hungary as well as cooking. Highly recommended.

Lovely evening. My husband and I enjoyed the walk through the market with Marty as she explained the products and history. Going to her kitchen, we made dinner with her assistance. It was wonderful and everyone had a great time. I would definitely recommend this as it was a definite highlight of our trip.

Marti is a great guide, chef, host and teacher! We had a very informative walk around the Central Market learning about the various Hungarian food traditions. We then went to Marti's and made Chicken Paprikash and mini dumplings under her expert guidance. She treated us to palinka and a plate of Hungarian cured meats and pickled vegetables ( including baby watermelons!) whilst we cooked. Having just got home, we have made it again - with great success 😁. See picture.
