We had a wonderful day with our guide Hika! A wonderful professional who provided us with incredible insights throughout the tour. Miyajima is a must-see! Sacred to the Japanese and full of charm for tourists. It was by far our best tour of our 3-week trip to Japan, including experiences in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka.

I went to the island on an overcast day and it was still an awesome experience! If it had been sunny… Shun our guide was superb. Very knowledgeable and friendly. The island has so much to offer in scenery and serenity. Highly recommended!

Even with a steady drizzle overhead, our Miyajima half-day walking tour turned out to be an unforgettable journey through history, culture, and the quiet charm of island life. We were especially grateful that our guide, Meri, was able to meet us directly on the island — a last-minute request that was handled with flexibility and grace. Our walk began along the scenic coastline, with the sound of the waves accompanying us as we made our way to the iconic Ōtorii Gate. Thanks to the low tide, we had the rare chance to walk right up to the majestic gate and even touch its weathered surface — a truly special moment that connected us to centuries of pilgrims and travellers before us. Next, we visited the elegant Itsukushima Shrine. The shrine’s architecture and spiritual presence were beautifully explained by Meri, who was both informative and warm throughout the tour. Our cultural exploration continued at the Miyajima History and Folklore Museum, where we gained insights into the traditional life of the island's residents. After a delicious local lunch (think fried oysters and unagi), we made our way up to the serene Daishō-in Temple. We wrapped up the tour with some leisurely time along Miyajima Omotesando shopping street, picking up local treats. Meri also treated us with a sweet treat at the end of the tour at her favourite cafe on the island. First-timers or seasoned visitors, if you want to go beyond the usual photo ops and get a real feel for the soul of Miyajima, this walking tour is a must.

Such a charming and beautiful island! Our guide explained as we walked along. He was very polite , flexible ,and mindful of our needs. I think staying overnight on Miyajima after the crowds have gone would be magical.

Miyajima was a beautiful island tour. We took the ferry over to the island and explored from there. Wonderful scenery, eats, deer sightings - it had it all. Hika was our local guide. He made sure we saw all the must see sights and provided excellent explanations for all that we saw. Highly recommend this tour!
