One of the biggest monuments of Naxos island is the Venetian Castle located in the center of Naxos town.
Built by the Venetian explorer Marco I Sanoudo around 1207 AD, the Castle is still standing today and it’s one of the most imposing, classic preserved areas of the Island. What is better than an afternoon walk in the castle, where you will have the chance to both learn the history of it and also explore all the little shops and restaurants located in the alleys of Naxos Castle (Kastro).

5.00This tour went even better than I expected. Our guide, Alex, was incredibly knowledgeable about the town, its culture, and its food. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, you’ll be walking through charming streets and making several stops. Our first stop was at an authentic cheese shop, where we sampled a variety of cheeses and wine while Alex shared the fascinating history of cheese making in Naxos. Next, we visited the famous church in town, a beautiful and peaceful landmark. After that, we enjoyed an authentic dinner featuring cheese, fresh bread, stuffed peppers with rice and meat, and delicious local wine. We also explored a charming jam shop, and finally ended the evening at a liquor store offering an array of candies, oils, and traditional Naxos liquor. This final stop was my favorite part of the tour. Thank you, Alex, for making this an unforgettable experience!

5.00We had such a fun time on this delicious food tour. Especially if you are staying outside of Naxos, this is a great option because they will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel or Airbnb in a very comfortable sprinter van. Our guide, Alex, made the whole tour! He was so friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. He made sure to make everyone feel included, including my elderly mother and child. He was also flexible and thoughtful, making tweaks to the tour to find the best routes for my mom to walk since she uses a cane and stopping at different shops to make sure we were able to bring home our favorite food souvenirs.
