Meet your instructor at a cookery school in central Paris (59 Rue du Cardinal Lemoine) to begin your class. If you've opted for the 6-hour class, start with a croissant and a cup of coffee or tea before heading to an open-air food market near Paris' Latin Quarter, where you'll pick up the ingredients for your meal and taste some cheese with your instructor. If you've selected the 4.5-hour class, make your way to the cookery school after your instructor has returned from the market. Begin by planning your 3-course lunch menu, which includes an appetizer, main, and dessert course. Then, get started under the watchful eye of your instructor. As you prepare your meal, pick up tips and gain insight into traditional French cooking techniques. After two hours in the kitchen (and a glass of wine or two), head through to the dining table with your fellow cooks. Sit down to the delicious meal you’ve prepared and enjoy half a bottle of white or red wine. You'll also learn the fine art of pairing food with wine. Before leaving, you'll receive electronic copies of your recipes so you can recreate the dishes at home.

The day began with a trip to a local food market, where we were given an overview of the history of food in Paris, agriculture in France, and how to determine the ratings and origins of various goods. Then we had a brief lesson on the five main types of French cheeses, with an accompanying tasting! The cooking class was broken down very clearly: we were walked through stations that each had one focus ingredient, and the steps on how to prepare them were explained thoroughly before anyone started cooking. Everyone got to choose what they did, and many of us ended up working together with others as the ingredients were added to the dishes. The end result was a two-course meal with a two-part dessert, and was one of the best meals I had in Paris during my ten-day stay! I will be preparing a few of the dishes for my friends and family at home, for certain: they were easy to make, but the results were incredible!

Viator needs to instruct customers to select the option to visit the market. Chef Fred explained how this continues to happen!

I highly recommend this experience. The environment is absolutely charming and the facilities are top notch. Our chef/instructor was amazing! From the farmers market visit to the the preparation and the cooking to the final course of our meal, Chef Luc was engaging, professional, funny, and extremely efficient. I will definitely schedule another session when I return to Paris! Thank you Luc!!

Great cooking class! Chef Luc was so patient, attentive, and very knowledgeable. He answers all your questions, gives pointers and demonstrates. The food we cooked was excellent, plenty of wine and the atmosphere is clean, bright and very comfortable. This experience was so much more than what I expected.... and I am very picky. I actually did not want to leave. I have a better respect and admiration for chefs and kitchen staff. Thank you. Jasmine V.
